Job summary

MINDTECK SOFTWARE MALAYSIA SDN BHD is seeking a hands-on PLC Automation Engineer to design, program, commission, troubleshoot, and enhance automated machinery and production systems in a manufacturing environment.

The role requires expertise with Allen-Bradley ControlLogix, RSLogix 5000 / Studio 5000, Ladder Logic, HMI, and motion control, plus safety systems and CE compliance. Collaboration with engineering teams is essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years' experience in PLC programming and industrial automation.
• Hands-on experience with Allen-Bradley ControlLogix and RSLogix 5000 / Studio 5000.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and control drawings.
• Experience with servo/motion control and electrical control systems.
• Knowledge of machine safety, CE requirements, and safety circuits.
• Experience with HMI, sensors, actuators, and machine vision is advantageous.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, modify, and troubleshoot PLC-based machine control systems.
• Program Allen-Bradley ControlLogix using RSLogix 5000 / Studio 5000.
• Develop and troubleshoot Ladder Logic, HMI, I/O, sensors, actuators.
• Configure servo and motion control systems and related components.
• Design and review electrical control systems, panels, wiring, and schematics.
• Implement machine safety interlocks, emergency stops, guarding, and safety circuits.
• Support integration of PLC, electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and vision systems.
• Perform machine testing, debugging, FAT/SAT, commissioning, and ramp-up support.
• Investigate faults and implement corrective actions and improvements.
• Coordinate with project managers and engineers and maintain documentation.
• Ensure designs meet safety, CE, quality, and project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, modify, and troubleshoot PLC-based machine control systems.
• Program Allen-Bradley ControlLogix using RSLogix 5000 / Studio 5000.
• Develop and troubleshoot Ladder Logic, HMI, I/O, sensors, actuators, and machine control systems.
• Configure and troubleshoot servo and motion control systems, including Emerson, Baldor, or equivalent.
• Design and review electrical control systems, panels, wiring, and schematics.
• Implement machine safety systems including interlocks, emergency stops, guarding, and safety circuits.
• Support integration of PLC, electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, motion, and vision systems.
• Perform machine testing, debugging, FAT/SAT, commissioning, and production ramp-up support.
• Investigate faults and implement corrective actions and system improvements.
• Manage approved design changes and maintain PLC software, drawings, and technical documentation.
• Coordinate with Project Managers, electrical/mechanical engineers, machine builders, production teams, and customers.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable safety, CE, quality, and project requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Electrical & Electronic, Automation Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline.
• Minimum 2 years' experience in PLC programming, industrial automation, machine control, or manufacturing.
• Strong hands-on experience with Allen-Bradley ControlLogix and RSLogix 5000 / Studio 5000.
• Strong PLC programming, Ladder Logic, troubleshooting, and commissioning skills.
• Experience with servo/motion control and electrical control systems.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and control drawings.
• Good understanding of machine safety, safety circuits, and CE requirements.
• Experience with HMI, sensors, actuators, machine vision, or industrial networks is advantageous.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Hands-on, self-motivated, and comfortable working in a manufacturing environment.
