Job summary

Air Products is seeking a Senior Process Engineer to support SEA plant operations (Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand). You will drive process optimization, perform design calculations, run simulations, and provide on-site technical support to ensure safety, productivity and cost effectiveness.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Chemical Engineering, 5–12 years of industrial gases experience with strong ASU exposure, plus hands-on plant experience and excellent English communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
• 5–12 years of process engineering experience in industrial gases with strong ASU exposure.
• Strong knowledge of ASU processes, cycles, operations and optimization.
• Experience with process design tools, simulations and P&ID concepts.
• Demonstrated improvement of plant performance, energy efficiency and gas recovery.
• Experience leading process safety activities (PHA/PSR) independently.
• Hands-on plant environment experience and fluent English.

Responsibilities

• Drive plant process optimization and generate continuous improvement ideas.
• Support plant restart, troubleshoot processes and perform root cause analysis.
• Review and approve process isolation plans for major work/modification.
• Review and approve plant operation EMOC from process perspective.
• Support process design activities: P&ID markup, calculations, equipment sizing, pressure drop simulations.
• Support new plant commissioning and plant process training.
• Promote and enforce Air Products safety programs and procedures.

PURPOSE

To support SEA plant operations (Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand) in driving plant productivity, executing process related design calculation, process simulation, troubleshooting, plant on-site support and other activities as required.

NATURE AND SCOPE

Responsible to support SEA plant operations (Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand) to ensure plant process safety operation, productivity achievement and cost effectiveness in unit operations.

Principal Accountabilities

• Drive plant process optimization and generate new continuous improvement idea to achieve plant productivity target.
• Support operation in plant restart, process troubleshooting and root cause analysis for plant issue.
• Review and approve process isolation plan for a major work/modification.
• Review and approve plant operation EMOC from process perspective.
• Support relevant process expertise like P&ID markup, process design calculation, equipment sizing, pipeline pressure drop simulation, etc.
• Support new plant commissioning as needed.
• Plant process training to improve operator/engineer skills.
• Participate, promote and enforce Air Products safety programs, rules and procedures actively.
• Any other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements And Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 5-12 years of process engineering experience in the industrial gases industry with strong exposure to Air Separation Unit (ASU) plants.
• Strong knowledge of ASU processes, ASU cycles, plant operations and process optimization.
• Experience in plant design software, process design tools, process calculations, process simulation and the use of process design tools.
• Knowledge of P&IDs, control valves, process safety valves (PSV), piping sizing and process equipment design.
• Demonstrated experience in improving plant performance, energy efficiency and oxygen, nitrogen and argon recovery.
• Experience leading Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), Process Safety Reviews (PSR) or other process safety activities independently.
• Ability to work in a hands-on environment (an operating plant).
• Fluent in English.
