Job summary

ExxonMobil in Kuala Lumpur seeks experienced Production Engineers with 5–15 years in oil and gas to join its Production Engineering & Optimization team. Based in KL, you will work with global Technical and Operation teams to support a diverse portfolio including Deepwater and LNG assets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in petroleum/chemical/mechanical engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of oil and gas experience in Production/ Petroleum Engineering or Production Technology.
• Operational experience in inflow/outflow modeling, production testing, allocation principles.
• Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills; able to work in a multi-cultural global team.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineers and operators to analyze well/field performance; advise on production optimization.
• Coordinate with Reservoir, Facilities, Wells, and Operations for debottlenecking and optimization.
• Support operations scheduling optimization, capacity enhancement, and downtime reduction.
• Conduct surveillance of production and injection wells to identify optimization opportunities.
• Assess impact of system constraints; monitor facility balance at field/platform/well level.
• Perform screening economic evaluations for well interventions and stimulation.
• Manage production data quality and ensure reliable metrics.
• Develop and sustain proprietary production engineering technology.

ExxonMobil in Malaysia

In Malaysia, we host a global business and technology center in Kuala Lumpur that provides high-level information technology and engineering expertise to ExxonMobil’s Upstream, Product Solutions and Low Carbon Solutions businesses worldwide. In the upstream, we have interests in two Production Sharing Contracts with PETRONAS, while in the Product Solutions business, we supply a portfolio of specialty chemical products to the marketplace.

What Role You Will Play In Our Team

We are expanding our Production Engineering & Optimization team and looking for passionate individuals with an entrepreneurial mind-set to drive change in our business, and who enjoy working in dynamic, collaborative, and diverse global teams.

Currently, we have multiple opportunities for experienced Production Engineers with between 5 to 15 years' experience to join our team. The role is based in Kuala Lumpur and you will work very closely with our global Technical and Operation teams to support ExxonMobil's global portfolio of Deepwater, Conventional, Unconventional and LNG assets.

What You Will Do

• Collaborate with engineers and operators on global teams to analyze well/field performance and advise on production optimization.
• Integrate with adjacent disciplines (Reservoir, Facilities or Process, Wells, Operations, Flow Assurance) to execute opportunities for production debottlenecking, production enhancement and idle well restoration.
• Support Operation teams for operations schedule optimization, capacity enhancement, production planning and downtime optimization.
• Conduct regular system surveillance for production and injection wells to identify optimization opportunities.
• Assess impact of identified system constraints, monitor, and troubleshoot facility balance at field/platform/well level.
• Conduct screening economic evaluations of well intervention and stimulation operations.
• Manage production data, measurement and allocation quality assurance.
• Build/sustain proprietary production engineering technology.

About You

Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's engineering degree from a recognized university in petroleum /chemical/ mechanical/other relevant engineering disciplines.
• Minimum 5 years of work experience in oil and gas industry specializing in either Petroleum Engineering, Production Engineering or Production Technology.
• Possess operational experiences, particularly in:
• Inflow/outflow/flowline modeling
• Production well testing and allocation principles
• Network modeling and facilities operations
• Well design, completion, intervention and stimulation technologies
• Artificial lift methods and systems
• Reservoir and Facilities surveillance
• Production surveillance, troubleshooting and optimization of well and field performance
• Hands on experience with proprietary or vendor engineering analysis tools within the experience domain.
• Be able to demonstrate the following:

• Ability to work in a multi-cultural global team and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders

Preference will be given to those with the following additional skills / abilities

• Field/Operation, mentorship and team leadership experience
• Experience with engineering applications such as IPM (MBAL, GAP, PROSPER, Resolve), OFM, OLGA and Hysys.
• Experience with data visualization software (e.g. Power BI, SeeQ, XHQ) and scripting skills (e.g. Python).
• Experience in Production Database Management (e.g. Energy Components, PL/SQL).
