Account Services Officer (Contract - based in Penang)
Primary Objective
Promote and sell the bank’s personal financing products (secured/unsecured loans) and grow the assets portfolio in line with targets.
Ensure high asset quality (minimising delinquency), adherence to credit policies and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Business Growth
- Achieve individual or team targets for personal financing assets (loan volume, new-to-bank assets).
- Identify prospective customers, generate leads (internal, external), make sales calls/visits.
- Cross-sell related banking / financing products (credit cards, insurance, deposits etc.).
- Prepare and execute sales plans to maximize asset growth.
Credit Assessment & Risk Management
- Assess creditworthiness of applicants (income verification, credit checks, financial analysis).
- Ensure that processes comply with internal credit policies, approvals, regulatory guidelines.
- Monitor asset performance; take preemptive action to mitigate risk of non-performing loans (NPLs).
Customer Service & Retention
- Provide good customer service, manage customer relationships throughout financing lifecycle.
- Ensure compliance with rules, transparent disclosure, terms and conditions.
- Handle customer enquiries, escalate problems or default situations if needed.
Compliance & Reporting
- Maintain accurate documentation and records per bank’s policies.
- Ensure compliance with anti-money laundering (AML), know-your-customer (KYC) and credit regulations.
- Prepare periodic reports (portfolio status, risk, delinquency, sales performance).
Other Duties
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders (credit operations, risk, legal, collections).
- Keep updated on product features, market / competitor financing offerings.
- Participate in training and sales / promotional campaigns.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Education: At least Diploma / Bachelor’s in any field; finance / business / accounting background preferred.
- Experience: Experience in retail banking sales or personal financing / credit portfolio roles (asset or loan sales), likely 1–3 years (depending on level).
- Strong sales, negotiation and communication skills.
- Analytical ability to assess financial information and credit risk.
- Knowledge of banking / financing product features, regulatory environment.
- Ability to work under targets, self‑motivated and driven.
- Proficiency in computer tools (MS Office etc.).
Performance Metrics / KPIs
- Number / value of new assets (loan / financing) originated.
- Asset quality: Rate of delinquency / non‑performing financing.
- Compliance with credit policy and regulatory requirements.
- Customer satisfaction and retention.
- Cross‑sell ratio; contribution to overall branch / sales unit performance.
