Job summary

ECON Medicare Centre And Nursing Home Sdn. Bhd is seeking a Patient Care Assistant to support nursing staff in Kajang, Selangor. The role involves assisting with daily resident care, hygiene, meals, mobility, and providing emotional support in a compassionate environment.

The position requires basic communication skills and a college-certified patient care qualification, with additional healthcare experience considered an advantage.

Qualifications

• Certified Patient Care Assistant by college or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Assist nurses with daily care activities for residents.
• Support in updating care plans and routines.
• Conduct basic resident care tasks (hygiene, feeding, mobility).
• Attend to residents’ needs and provide emotional support.
• Help maintain a clean, safe environment in the nursing home.
• Assist during night duties if required and monitor residents.
• Follow infection control policy and SOPs.
• Participate in routine activities and resident engagement.
• Document observations and report to supervisor.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Responsible to the Nurse-In-Charge/Staff Nurse in all nursing care related activities and to the Supervisor for the daily cleaning activities.

2. Assist in updating resident nursing care plan and function as Team Leader for non-acute zone.

3. Participate in clinical quality project and KPI related task.

4. Assist in carrying out various basic care activities for the resident such as

Attend to their oral hygiene

Bathing, showering, personal hygiene and grooming

Changing of bed linen and tidying of beds and lockers

Feeding those who require help with activities of daily living

Turning and positioning;

Help in getting in and out of bed - Lifting, moving and transporting

Serving of meals and drinks to the residents

Conduct daily exercise and activities for the residents

Help in toileting

Help in walking

Taking & recording temperature, pulse rate and blood pressure

Provision of emotional support

5. Assist with general duties such as

Answering of resident’s call-bell and gives assistance within the constraints of his/her responsibilities

Assist in transporting and nurse accompany for medical appointment

Provide companionship and emotional support for resident

Clear all cutlery, tables and linens after every meal.

6. Help to maintain a clean, safe and neat environment for the residents in the nursing home/centre.

7. Act as a key staff in charge for night duty if required to supervise and monitor night activities

8. Comply to inflection control policy and SOP.

9. Perform any additional duties as assigned by the registered nurse/supervisor/manager

REQUIREMENTS

Patient Care Assistant Certified by College

Previous experience in healthcare role is added advantage

Able to communicate basic language

Willingness to learn and adapt new skills
