A leading food company in Selangor, Malaysia, is seeking a Packaging Development Specialist to leverage extensive knowledge of packaging materials and optimize packaging solutions. The role involves analyzing operational efficiency, sourcing appropriate materials, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Food Science and 2-5 years of experience in a similar role. Strong analytical and communication skills are essential for success in this position.
Utilize extensive knowledge of various packaging materials, including plastics, metals, and paper-based options, to recommend and implement optimal packaging solutions.
Analyze the operational efficiency of the current and newly proposed packaging processes to maximize output and performance.
Develop and design packaging solutions that meet product requirements, consumer needs, and regulatory standards.
Identify and propose standard dimension of cartons to maximize pallet space utilization in the warehouse.
Implement packaging solutions that enhance storage and optimize logistic cost efficiency.
Collaborate with R&D Executives / Food Technologists to create prototypes and test packaging materials for functionality and durability.
Source for, evaluate and select appropriate packaging materials based on product characteristics, processing requirements and environmental factors.
Develop packaging solutions that align with sustainability standards and environmental considerations.
Conduct tests to assess the performance of packaging materials, including but not limited to strength, barrier properties, and compatibility with equipment and products characteristics.
Support initiatives to review and verify accuracy labelling on packaging artwork to ensure content is accurate, complete and compliant to latest standards and regulatory requirements. Correct label discrepancies, and maintain records for amendments and inaccuracies in the labelling database.
To constantly stay abreast of all regulatory changes and requirements in company’s exporting countries, and share the latest information with relevant departments within the organization.
Identify, develop and implement best practices for the label and packaging control within the document management system.
Ensure all packaging artwork archive and related documentation is accurate, well-maintained, and accessible for review and audits.
Collaborate with Regulatory, Marketing, Purchasing and Sales teams to support new projects launches, promotions activities, and packaging updates.
Serve as the SME on packaging materials, offering expert advice on material selection, application, and performance.
To carry out other duties and tasks as directed by the Management in line with competencies and activities associated with any of the above processes.
