Job summary

Merck in Malaysia seeks a Senior Specialist, OTC Controls to drive and govern periodic SOX controls for all OTC processes globally. You will lead control activities, review evidence, and coordinate cross-functional teams across Compliance, Internal Audit, IT, and business operations to strengthen audit readiness.

You will partner with GPOs and Stakeholders to ensure narratives and operating models align, while improving documentation and driving standardization and automation opportunities

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
• Experience in Finance Shared Services, OTC, Internal Controls, SOX, Audit, Compliance, or related finance ops.
• Strong knowledge of OTC processes and control requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead execution and oversight of periodic SOX controls across OTC processes globally.
• Serve as control lead and subject matter expert for designated control areas.
• Coordinate control execution activities performed by Controls Specialists.
• Review control documentation, evidence, sampling, validation files, and sign-off materials for completeness.
• Investigate control exceptions, identify root causes, and support escalation/remediation.
• Support internal and external audit requests related to assigned OTC controls.
• Partner with GPOs, Compliance, Internal Audit, IT, and Operations to align with narratives and SOX requirements.
• Maintain and improve control documentation, work instructions, and evidence repositories.
• Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, automate, and strengthen control execution.
• Support reporting and monitoring of control execution performance and remediation progress.
• Provide technical guidance, coaching, and support to Controls Specialists.
• Contribute to development of strong OTC Controls capability within KL BSC.
