Job summary

Lumentum Operations LLC is seeking a CM Quality Engineer in Malaysia (Penang) to own quality performance for assigned optical module and component products at the contract manufacturer. You will translate requirements into robust QC plans, review data for trends, and drive containment and corrective actions across multiple teams.

You will collaborate with R&D, NPI, Process Engineering, and CM Quality to ensure process capability, change management, and product reliability during production ramp

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Optical Engineering, Optoelectronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Engineering, or related field.
• Typically 5+ years of experience in quality, manufacturing, process, NPI, or product engineering within optical, photonic, optoelectronic, semiconductor, or electronics manufacturing.
• Experience with contract manufacturers and cross-functional teams to resolve product and process quality issues.
• Knowledge of optical module and component products, assembly processes, testing, reliability requirements, and manufacturing quality controls.
• Experience with quality tools including control plans, PFMEA, SPC, MSA, 8D, CAPA, and engineering-change management.

Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day quality performance for assigned products at the CM, including defect prevention, containment, corrective action, and quality-risk management.
• Translate product requirements into practical quality controls, critical-to-quality characteristics, specifications, acceptance criteria, inspection methods, and reaction plans.
• Review product quality data, defects, yield loss, test results, and feedback to identify trends and prioritize actions.
• Coordinate containment and lead structured problem solving for customer complaints, product escapes, production defects, audit findings, and other quality issues.
• Support NPI, product qualification, manufacturing transfer, process validation, and production ramp for assigned products.
