Operational Management Manager

Corporate Services plays a key role in managing the Corporate Real Estate and Work Space Environment for the Bank. Corporate Services are involved in project management, branch network development and design, facilities management, environmental and energy monitoring, fixed asset administration as well as being the custodian role of the property/premises expenditure planning for the Bank.

The Operational Management function provides support to the Country Head of Real estate services and/or Regional Head of Operational Management across all of their areas of responsibility. Operational Management (OM) delivers and contributes to policies, processes, procedures, and tools for their implementation and management in Real estate services, working with Global Functions such as Finance, HR or Strategy & Planning where required.

The OM Team will drive continuous improvement across the Real estate services structure in areas such as Governance and Risk Control Operations, Change Execution, and People.

Principal responsibilities
  • Change Execution – manage change, either internally or externally driven, on a continuous improvement basis.
  • Real estate services Governance and Risk Control Operations and the implementation of Global Standards – Possess knowledge of Real estate services operational risks and controls, work with Country Head and Workstream leads to identify, remediate and record any risk and issues in line with HSBC policy.
  • Communication – develop and execute communication plans.
  • Governance & Documentation – ensure appropriate governance is developed and implemented with robust documentation and supporting management policies to manage Real estate services Risk.
  • Real estate services Operating Model - support line manager in implementation of Real estate services Operating Model and the global standard operating procedures.
  • People – support line manager with developing and implementing people strategies, with Global/Regional/Country HR and management of ‘people’ related issues. Implement Real estate services staff engagement events in country.
  • Project execution – support on ad hoc country specific or regional programmes assigned by Country Head or Regional Head.
  • Act as conduit for regulatory activity and programs.

The role will have responsibility in coordinating amongst workstream leads on the delivery of the above.

Qualifications
Knowledge & Experience
  • Demonstrated results in delivering successful quality and activity control processes across multiple functions and/or geographies.
  • Strong awareness and understanding of internal controls and operational risk environment. Demonstrated results in risk management and driving effective operational controls.
Skills
  • High level of personal drive and motivation to ensure delivery of a broad range of outputs simultaneously across HSBC.
  • Proven experience of positive, challenging interactions with Senior Managers across the business.
  • Proven ability to articulate complex issues concisely and in simple language to support problem analysis.
  • Proven abilities in working across cultures.
  • Strategic thinker – able to quickly assimilate global strategies and collaborate with the business to accomplish these strategies.
  • Possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written with ability to build relationships by communicating, influencing and negotiating effectively at all levels across the organization.
