Job summary

A solar energy company in Malaysia is seeking an O&M Engineer to oversee plant performance, analyze PV data, and lead maintenance activities. The successful candidate will have a degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, with 1-2 years' experience in solar systems. O&M Engineer (Solar PV)

Location: Kuala Langat, Selangor
Employment Type: Contract

Job Responsibilities
  • Monitor daily plant performance, record data, and report any faults or abnormalities affecting power generation.
  • Analyse PV plant data (Performance Ratio, Acceptance Review, Specific Yield Ratio) and highlight issues or improvement areas.
  • Prepare and submit O&M performance and generation reports to clients.
  • Plan, schedule, and update maintenance activities including inspections, testing, repairs, and troubleshooting.
  • Lead and guide technicians during on-site maintenance and troubleshooting works.
  • Conduct site inspections to ensure work quality and compliance with standards.
  • Recommend corrective actions for issues identified during operations or reported by technicians.
  • Review and prepare field reports, status updates, and technical feedback.
  • Respond to emergency call‑outs when required.
  • Handle documentation for equipment warranty claims and follow‑up with suppliers.
  • Prepare O&M proposals, quotations, tenders, and budget estimations.
  • Develop O&M manuals, training materials, and handover documents for completed projects.
  • Prepare presentation slides, meeting minutes, and project‑related documentation.
  • Provide technical advice and support to clients and internal teams.
  • Assist teammates during their leave periods.
  • Monitor calibration validity and assign testing equipment when requested.
  • Support breakdown troubleshooting and rectification activities.
  • Perform other ad‑hoc tasks assigned by the superior or HOD.
Job Requirements
  • Degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or related field from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience in solar systems; experience in large‑scale solar farms is an added advantage.
  • Good command of Bahasa Malaysia and English (spoken and written).
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and leadership skills.
  • Willing to travel to site and respond to urgent call‑outs when needed.
