Job summary

A legal regulatory body in Kuala Lumpur is seeking an Officer specialized in Compliance, Intervention, and Compensation Fund. The candidate will oversee the recovery of disciplinary fines, conduct legal research, and manage support staff. Job description
Officer (Compliance, Intervention and Compensation Fund)

Oversee and manage the recovery of disciplinary fines, including issuing instructions, monitoring, compliance, coordinating with panel solicitors on execution proceedings, and ensuring timely follow‑through on all enforcement steps;

Conduct legal research and present findings clearly to support the preparation of memorandums, opinions, reports, letters and notices;

Review, prepare, and vet cause papers, including those relating to appeals, reinstatement applications, enforcement proceedings, and related matters;

Oversee, supervise, and guide support staff, ensuring smooth operations and adherence to standard operating procedures;

Draft correspondences, notices, and various disciplinary or enforcement‑related materials;

Conduct disciplinary hearings before the Disciplinary Committee of the Advocates and Solicitors Disciplinary Board (where applicable);

Monitor and maintain databases and records, including tracking complaints, enforcement status, recovery of fines, and related processes;

Liaise with panel solicitors, enforcement agencies, and relevant third parties on disciplinary, recovery, and execution matters;

Carry out any other duties assigned by management.

Requirements
  • Possess an LLB (Hons) degree and be an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya;
  • Minimum 1 to 2 years post‑admission experience (preferably with exposure to disciplinary, regulatory, or litigation matters.)
  • Strong legal research, analytical, and drafting skills, with experience in preparing case briefs, opinions, and submissions.
  • Proactive in identifying and managing risks in line with best practice;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with proficiency in English and Bahasa Malaysia. Knowledge of additional languages such as Mandarin (or other Chinese dialects) and Tamil is an added advantage.
  • High computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and case management systems;
  • Well‑organised, able to multitask and deliver accurate work under pressure.
  • Willingness to travel with Klang Valley and outstation as required.
