KPJ Healthcare Berhad seeks an experienced Nursing Education Coordinator to organize student nurses’ clinical learning experiences and coordinate with Unit Managers to ensure high-quality training. You will evaluate student performance, monitor patient care during attachments, and lead in-service education programs in collaboration with KPJIUC.

The role requires experience in nursing education, teaching certifications, BLS/ACLS/MTLS/PALS/NRP, and strong English and Bahasa Malaysia communication

Organization & Management

Adhere and implement nursing care in alignment with the Nursing Services’ Vision, Mission Statements, Goals, and Objectives. Organize and accomplish student nurses' clinical learning experiences, selecting clinical areas for optimal achievement of clinical objectives, coordinating with Unit Managers and Heads of Services, and maintaining detailed records of student progress and achievements. Evaluate the student nurses' performance during their clinical attachment period, monitor patient-focused care, assign projects, assess clinical performance, schedule sessions, provide counseling, and liaise with KPJ International University College (KPJIUC) nurse lecturers to ensure their progress, performance, and welfare. Participate in Nurse Instructors meetings at KPJ International University College (KPJIC) to address issues during students' clinical attachments, focusing on student-centered and quality training programs. Participate in hospital committees as appropriate, organize orientation programs for student nurses, new recruitment nurses, and care assistants, and make recommendations for staff confirmation. Collaborate with the unit managers in organizing and conducting in-service education programs to keep nursing staff updated on the latest trends in the nursing or health discipline. Maintain communication with KPJ International University College (KPJIUC) to stay informed about curriculum changes and conduct needs assessments using various strategic tools. Provides updated educational opportunities for staff nurses at all stages of their career development. Delivers competency-based programs for staff nurses and other staff members, focusing on skill improvement and new knowledge acquisition. Conducts clinical rounds to ensure the highest standards of care.

Human Resource & Development

Responsibility for their professional development by participating in mandatory learning hours, ensuring continuous growth, and staying updated with professional changes, which is approximately 40 hours per year. Coordinates internal and external training and workshops. Oversee the competency of the nursing services staff, ensuring they possess the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively. Manage student nurses in achieving clinical objectives during their diploma or degree programs by providing guidance and support throughout their clinical experience. Provide the Unit Manager with appraising the job performance of the unit staff nurses by giving accurate feedback. Participate actively in student welfare including hostel management, inspection, facilities, and maintenance of clinical posting hostel. Policies & Procedures Review policies and procedures periodically and triennially to ensure they align with current nursing standards, regulations, statutory authority requirements, and service purposes. Evaluate compliance with all policies and procedures of various quality and safety systems, including MS ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, Patient Safety Goals, National Nursing Audits, and other accredited standards like Malaysian Hospital Accreditation Standards and HACCP Netherlands. Evaluate the prevention and control of infection, including the implementation of surveillance activity in the unit and evidence of involvement. Control and maintain regular management of drugs aligned with hospital policies and procedures. Maintain confidentiality of patient’s personal and medical history.

Facilities & Equipment

Collaborate with the Unit manager to monitor records of equipment and inventory, including calibration for medical supplies and drug storage. Collaborate with the Unit Manager to monitor that the emergency trolley is checked as per the stipulated policy and conduct audits at regular intervals for compliance. Participate in providing on-the-job training and guidance to new staff, including the cleaning of medical equipment.

Safety & Quality Improvement Activities

Monitor activities that contribute towards the continuous improvement of nursing services, such as Quality Assurance, Infection Prevention & Control, and Fire and Safety Programs. Monitor and propose the quality of care/service in the designated unit and initiate action and implementation of corrective measures as needed. Participate in investigations and root cause analyses for any incidents in the services, take appropriate action, and ensure completion of incident reports within the stipulated time frame. Participate and contribute to the Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative certification, with a focus on promoting exclusive breastfeeding. Lead and adhere to the Occupational Safety and Health Act and Regulations 1994, which mandate reasonable work care, employer cooperation, protective equipment use, patient safety goals, World Alliance recommendations, patient and family rights policies, standard people practice, 5S activities.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Education: Registered Nurse with valid Annual Practicing Certificate from Nursing Board of Malaysia
  • Any post basic in nursing that is recognized by Nursing Board of Malaysia
  • Possess a Bachelor of Nursing or enroll in a bachelor’s program within two years of promotion
  • Knowledge and Experiences: Registered Nurse with at least 5 years of clinical experience and diversity in clinical experience and teaching.
  • Skills & Competencies: Possess certifications in teaching methodology, BLS, ACLS, MTLS, PALS and NRP Hold teaching permit Special skills are required.
  • Proficient in writing and conversing in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
  • Basic financial knowledge Microsoft Office literacy
  • Personal attributes Good leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.

  • Willingness to work on scheduled hours, shifts and weekends, public holidays, and any time called during an emergency.
