Job summary

ONL Biz Solutions Sdn Bhd in Kuala Lumpur is seeking an experienced Node.js Developer to design, develop, and maintain high-performance server-side applications. You will own backend components, build POCs, and deliver production-ready solutions with collaboration from product managers, designers, and QA engineers.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years of hands-on Node.js work, strong Express.js experience, and a solid grasp of RESTful APIs, SQL/NoSQL databases, and security best practices.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Node.js Developer to design, develop, and maintain high-performance server-side applications. In this role, you will take ownership of backend components, build proofs of concept (POCs) to validate new ideas, and deliver production-ready solutions. You will collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and QA engineers to ensure scalable, secure, and maintainable systems. This is an ideal position for developers who can work independently, think critically, and bring innovative solutions to life.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable server-side applications using Node.js and frameworks like Express.js.
• Architect and implement RESTful APIs for seamless data exchange between server and client.
• Build POCs to explore, validate, and demonstrate feasibility of new features, integrations, or architectures.
• Optimize application performance, scalability, and security.
• Ensure correct and efficient database interactions (SQL and NoSQL).
• Implement authentication, authorization, and data protection best practices.
• Perform debugging, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
• Collaborate with designers, product managers, and QA engineers to deliver high-quality solutions on time.
• Write clean, modular, and testable code following established standards.
• Proactively suggest improvements to processes, architecture, and technology stacks.
• Stay updated with industry trends and apply relevant best practices.

Requirements

• Strong proficiency in JavaScript, with in-depth understanding of Node.js and asynchronous programming.
• At least 2 years of hands-on experience developing server-side applications with Node.js in a production environment.
• Solid experience with Express.js or similar frameworks.
• Strong understanding of event-driven architecture.
• Experience in designing and consuming RESTful APIs.
• Proficient with databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB) and ORMs/query builders.
• Good understanding of web servers (Nginx or Apache) and reverse proxy configurations for application deployment, load balancing, and request routing.
• Experience with Git and collaborative development workflows.
• Ability to write performant, secure, and maintainable code.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent work experience).

Nice to Have (Preferred)

• Experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration tools.
• Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS).
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of frontend frameworks (React, Vue, Svelte) for full-stack development.
• Experience integrating third-party APIs and services (payment gateways, push notifications, SMS services).
