What You\'ll Responsible For
  • Project Management: The Project Manager oversees and manages several newbuilding projects and ensures the optimal service delivery to the client. He/She ensures that WSM Newbuilding Services is a trustworthy and value-adding partner to the client.
  • Budget and Proposal responsibilities: The Project Manager will prepare Newbuilding Management Budgets and Proposals towards clients in coordination with the VP Newbuilding Services.
  • Stakeholder Contact Person: As the customer contact person the Project Manager acts as the direct contact towards all Stakeholders involved in the Project, including Owners, Class, Flag, the Yard, and the team members in the Site Offices.
  • Pre-construction phase: The Project Manager will review and analyze specifications and makers lists and will provide and support the client in their decision making. The Project Manager will engage and conduct shipyard audits to ensure the yard is qualified and all quality systems are in place.
  • Drawing Review and Approvals: He conducts and coordinates the drawing approval for the entrusted projects, ensuring all drawings are professionally reviewed and approved in the best interest of the client and in accordance with best practice and rules and regulations.
  • Site office Management: The Project Manager, in close cooperation with the VP Newbuilding Services, leads the selection process for the Site Team Members deployed to the yards. Support the assembly of the job site office team and define equipment needs.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Confidently and effectively communicate with the design team and Client, while also providing feedback.
  • Design Discrepancy Reporting: Promptly inform the Client of any errors, discrepancies, or omissions identified within the design drawings.
  • Change Order Management: Oversee all change order (CO) costs and maintain accurate and up-to-date CO logs.
  • Schedule Management: Diligently monitor and maintain the project construction schedule on a weekly basis or as per Client requirements.
  • Site Meeting Facilitation: Identify and address relevant issues during job site meetings, and subsequently prepare and distribute comprehensive minutes.
  • Quality & Safety Assurance: Ensure and motivate the Site Office to enforce Quality and Occupational Health and Safety standards (as per ISO 9001 & 45001) among all site personnel.
  • Testing & Inspection Oversight: Ensure the timely completion and tracking of all required testing and inspections.
  • Progress Reporting: Generate comprehensive progress reports for the Client, including proactive corrective or preventive actions to mitigate any project issues or delays.
  • Quality Control Enforcement: Maintain and enforce high construction standards and quality control in accordance with international standards.
  • Financial Management: Prepare monthly cost forecasting summaries and provide insightful cash flow reports. Approval site office monthly expenses up to USD1000.
  • As-Built Documentation: Ensure the continuous preparation of accurate "as-built" drawings by all trades throughout the construction period and deliver final close-out documentation to the client.
  • Deficiency Management: Prepare and expedite project deficiency lists for timely resolution.
  • Site Operations Support: Conduct site office audits, attend meetings on site as well as attending sea trials or milestone events as required by the project.
  • Sea trial support and Delivery preparation: The project manager visits the yard regularly and prepares together with the Site Manager the vessel for sea trial and delivery. He/She ensures that the client has all necessary information in hand prior to the delivery meetings.
What Experience and Skills Required
  • Qualified Naval Architect or Engineer with shipyard work experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of work experience as a project manager in the newbuilding department within a shipping company or a ship management company.
  • Knowledge of Class rules and relevant industry standards.
  • Proactive, self-motivated team player with a strong sense of integrity.
  • Excellent communication skills, both spoken and written in English.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficient computer skills in all Microsoft applications, with the ability to adapt to Company-specific software.
