Job summary

A leading insurance company in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a technical support specialist focused on Motor underwriting. The role involves portfolio analysis, research and development, and strategy planning to enhance financial performance. Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the general insurance industry, preferably in Motor class underwriting.
  • Solid knowledge of Motor class underwriting.
  • Good communication skills, both written and oral.

Job description

To provide technical support on the following areas:

  • Portfolio analysis – Analyse Motor portfolio and provide recommendations to improve financial performance.
  • Research and development – Market scanning, competitor benchmarking, new segment analysis, product development / enhancement.
  • System and Operational Analysis – Analyse and maintain system rate tables and other underwriting controls.
  • Strategy and Planning – Design and execute strategies to grow Motor portfolio profitably in line with Company strategies, objectives and business plans.
  • Line underwriting – Perform risk assessment to process Motor referral requests in accordance to TMIM UW guidelines.

Ensure prudent underwriting, taking into account relevant risk management, including proper analysis and evaluation process.

Requirements
  • Preferably tertiary qualification in Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Science or Insurance related professional qualifications such as AMII, ACII, AII and DMII.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in general insurance industry is preferred with solid knowledge in underwriting of Motor class.
  • Solid knowledge in underwriting of Motor.
  • Good market knowledge in Motor products.
  • Good communications skills - written & oral.
  • Must have good numerical and analytical skills.
  • Those pursuing actuarial papers are entitled for actuarial benefits.
