Responsibilities

• Perform high-precision MIG welding on ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
• Set up MIG welding machines according to project specifications.
• Select appropriate wire feed speed and voltage for material thickness.
• Choose suitable shielding gas.
• Adjust welding parameters for horizontal, vertical, and overhead welding.
• Prepare and tack-weld components prior to full weld runs.
• Weld various joint types with high accuracy.
• Ensure full penetration and proper bead appearance in all welds.
• Minimize welding distortion using controlled heat input techniques.
• Apply multi-pass welding techniques for thick materials.
• Interpret and follow technical drawings and welding blueprints.
• Measure, mark, and cut metal components to required dimensions.
• Grind and clean surfaces before welding to remove rust, paint, and contaminants.
• Select appropriate filler wire sizes and compositions.
• Align and clamp components using jigs and fixtures.
• Inspect weld quality using visual inspection and gauges.
• Conduct dye penetrant, magnetic particle, or ultrasonic weld testing.
• Detect and correct welding defects such as porosity, undercut, and cracks.
• Inspect MIG welding machines before use for defects or leaks.
• Replace worn-out contact tips, liners, and nozzles.
• Clean and lubricate welding equipment regularly.
• Calibrate welding machines to maintain consistent quality.
