Mechanical Engineering Manager / Senior Manager (automation and semiconductor)

Role Summary: Lead the mechanical engineering team to deliver high-quality, on-time designs for automation and material handling systems, ensuring full system integration and compliance with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and mentor mechanical application engineers.
  • Provide technical leadership in designing custom automation and material handling systems.
  • Review and approve conceptual designs, 3D models, 2D drawings, BOMs, and documentation.
  • Drive design improvements, standardization, and quality control initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Project Management, Electrical, and Software teams.
  • Support technical discussions and presentations with customers (pre- and post-sales).
  • Plan resources, recruitment, and performance evaluation.
  • Develop and enforce SOPs, design guidelines, and engineering KPIs.
  • Assess and mitigate project risks, resolving technical and resource issues.
  • Ensure compliance with SEMI, ISO, and internal policies.
  • Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis for escalated issues.
  • Manage departmental budgets, tools, and software licenses.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 8+ years in mechanical design or application engineering, with 3+ years in leadership.
  • Strong experience in automation, machine design, and semiconductor/cleanroom systems.
  • Strategic thinker with hands‑on problem‑solving ability.
  • Knowledge of mechanical design, ergonomics, safety standards, and manufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with product lifecycle, risk management, FMEA/DOE.
  • Experienced with cross‑functional project teams.
  • Proficient in CAD tools (SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
  • Skilled in mechanical calculations, material selection, and tolerance analysis.
  • Knowledge of SEMI and cleanroom standards preferred.
  • Able to review and approve complex engineering designs and documentation.
