Job summary

Motorola Solutions Malaysia Sdn Bhd is seeking a motivated Mechanical Engineer New Grad to join our product development team in Penang. You will contribute to design, modeling, and verification of mechanical sub-systems for mission-critical solutions.

You will work with CAD tools (PTC Creo or SolidWorks), develop 3D models and drawings, maintain BOMs, support prototyping, and perform basic testing and validation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Experience with 3D CAD modeling and 2D drawings.
• Familiarity with CAD tools like PTC Creo or SolidWorks.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes such as injection molding and metal stamping.
• Ability to communicate technical data clearly.

Job Description

• Design Support: Assist in preparing concept designs for mechanical sub-systems, focusing on reliability, robustness, and mission-critical performance.
• 3D Modeling & Drafting: Create detailed 3D models and 2D technical drawings for mechanical components including plastic injection molded parts, die castings, and sheet metal.
• Bill of Materials (BOM): Set up and maintain accurate BOMs and release mechanical prints through our PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) systems.
• Prototyping & Pilot Builds: Provide on-site support for prototype assembly and pilot production runs to identify design improvements.

Basic Requirements

• Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in generating 3D CAD models and 2D drawings. Experience with PTC Creo or Solidworks is a significant advantage.
• A basic understanding of manufacturing processes such as plastic injection molding, metal stamping, and PCBA assembly.
• Communication: Ability to clearly present conceptual ideas and technical data to the broader engineering team.
• Simulation: Familiar with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for structural or heat transfer applications (academic projects are acceptable).
• Standards: Familiarity with IP (Ingress Protection) sealing standards for water and dust resistance.
• Methodology: Good understanding of Six Sigma principles or basic tolerance stack-up analysis.
• Materials: Knowledge of material properties for engineering plastics and die-cast metals.
