We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will perform feasibility studies and provide technical solutions for new machine specifications.

Impact You Will Make

Participate in all phases of engineering projects, including design, testing, design review, system integration, support, and documentation of electronics for the semiconductor manufacturing industry.

Identify requirements and technical constraints for new products. Source materials, test, characterize, and optimize performance.

Manage engineering changes, maintain bill of material for projects, modules, design, and relevant documentation (internal rules and procedures, training programs, etc.).

Support production activities including analysis, problem solving, implementing product improvements, training, and documenting changes.

Support internal and external manufacturing, assembly, and test of Cohu products, source for replacements, test, characterize, and optimize performance.

Perform failure analysis of mechanical parts returned from customers, identify failure root causes, and provide new solutions if needed.

Follow engineering protocols including functional specifications/requirements, design and prototype, design rules, functionality test, reliability test, field test, and transition to manufacturing and/or field.

Ensure all designs generated and solutions provided are properly captured and released under applicable business processes.

Work in close collaboration with other engineering sites regarding technical know‑how transfer of new products and technology.

Perform any other ad hoc assignments according to business needs.

Our Ideal Candidate

• Bachelor of Science/Engineering in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering or equivalent from an accredited college or university.
• A relevant Diploma can be considered for exceptional candidate or junior positions.
• Experience working in automation design with motorized systems and mechanism design with automation/​pneumatics parts is strongly preferred.
• Familiar with load analysis, automation parts selection (bearing, linear guide, cylinder, etc.), design optimization, design for manufacturability, prototyping, and functional testing.
• Familiarity with manufacturing knowledge such as machining, metal works, material selection, surface coating, welding, heat treatment, thermal concerns, wear on materials, and aging.
• Knowledge of mean time between failure (MTBF) and failure modes and effect analysis (FMEA) is a plus.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks / Inventor / CATIA or other equivalent 3D CAD software is preferred.
• Requires understanding of drafting and drafting standards including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and industry standards.
• Possesses strong analytical, problem‑solving, and interpersonal skills. Able to work both individually and as a team.
• Effective English verbal and written communication skills, able to clearly convey information and ideas.
• Hardworking and able to work under high pressure. Strong commitment to learning and continuous improvement.
• Able to work during weekend, public holidays, and extended working hours as needed.
• Able to travel locally or overseas as requested.
