Job summary

A leading construction company in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a Mechanical & Electrical Quantity Surveyor to conduct cost estimations and assist in cost control for various engineering projects. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience in the M&E sector and familiarity with Malaysian regulations. The role includes participation in bidding for energy projects and may require short-term overseas travel. Strong communication skills and a relevant degree are essential.

Job description
Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) Quantity Surveyor

China Communications Construction Company Limited – Kuala Lumpur, Kuala Lumpur

Conduct detailed cost estimations for all aspects of mechanical and electrical (M&E) engineering projects based on tender documents, design drawings, and specifications.

Assist in cost control for ongoing projects and lead or participate in cost audits for various projects.

Participate in bidding for new energy projects such as photovoltaic (PV) and wind power, and adhere to arrangements made by the Business Operation Center, and be available for short-term overseas travel to other Southeast Asian countries for site inspections and project bidding support.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Building Economics, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Possession of a postgraduate degree in a relevant field is an advantage.
Professional Membership
  • Membership with the Royal Institution of Surveyors Malaysia (RISM) or other relevant professional bodies is preferred.
  • Possession of a Registered Quantity Surveyor certification is an advantage.
Experience
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of quantity surveying experience in the M&E engineering sector.
  • Proven experience in independently managing and controlling costs for large-scale M&E engineering projects.
  • Familiarity with Malaysian construction industry standards and regulations.
Technical Skills
  • Proficient in cost estimation, budgeting, and cost control for M&E engineering projects.
  • Familiarity with various contract types such as PAM, CIDB, etc., with contract management experience.
  • Proficient in using relevant software such as AutoCAD, BIM.
  • Familiarity with REVIT and other BIM software is preferred.
Soft Skills
  • Good communication, coordination, and negotiation skills.
  • Team player with the ability to collaborate effectively with professionals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent command of spoken and written English and Bahasa Malaysia; proficiency in Mandarin is an advantage.
