Job summary

A construction engineering firm is seeking a Site Safety Engineer in Penang. This role involves conducting site inspections, developing safety management systems, and providing safety training. Ideal candidates have a degree related to safety, 3-5 years of experience, and a thorough knowledge of OSHA regulations. Proficiency in Mandarin and English is preferred due to client interactions. This position may require short and long term travel both domestically and overseas.

Qualifications

Job description

Conducting regular site inspections and risk assessments to identify and address potential safety hazards.

Developing, implementing and maintaining comprehensive safety management systems and procedures.

Providing safety training and conducting toolbox talks to educate site personnel on safety best practices.

Investigating and reporting on any incidents or accidents, and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Ensuring the site complies with all relevant health and safety regulations and industry standards.

Collaborating with project managers, supervisors and other stakeholders to promote a culture of safety.

Maintaining detailed records and documentation related to site safety activities and performance.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Engineering or a related field.

Preferred 3-5 years of experience as a Site Safety Engineer or in a similar role in the construction industry.

Proven track record of implementing effective safety management systems and successfully driving safety initiatives.

Strong knowledge of relevant health and safety regulations, such as the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA).

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with all levels of the organization.

Yellow and Green Book holder preferred.

Proficient in problem-solving, risk analysis and decision-making.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Candidates fluent in Mandarin and English (Verbal and Writing) preferred. We are seeking candidates proficient in Mandarin to effectively communicate with Mandarin-speaking clients.

Willing to short and long term domestics and oversea travel.
