Mechanical Design Engineer - Singapore

We are seeking a highly skilled and self‑motivated Mechanical Design Engineer capable of independently handling mechanical design tasks. The candidate will be responsible for designing, analyzing, and optimizing mechanical systems and components for various projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and client requirements. The engineer will also participate in project tenders, site visits, and support procurement, communicating with customers, vendors, and suppliers to improve proposal processes and quality.

Key Responsibilities
  • HVAC System Design: Establish cleanroom designs, prepare architectural layout drawings using AutoCAD or Revit, develop mechanical HVAC system designs, prepare P&ID, calculate HVAC loads, size heat‑load equipment, fans, pumps, ducts, and pipes, and develop HVAC control philosophy and alarm lists.
  • Mechanical System Design: Design process utilities (CDA, Vacuum, PCW, Steam, Exhaust, Drain, Specialty Gas, RODI, WWTP, etc.), develop P&ID and piping/ducting layouts, conduct plant‑room space studies, calculate loads and sizing for pumps, fans, pipes, ducts, and interface with vendors for specification and cost.

    Review tender requirements, participate site visits, and ensure proposals meet client and project specifications. Support procurement through proposal evaluation, qualifying vendors, and ensuring solutions meet quality, regulatory, and cost objectives.

  • Project Management: Coordinate with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to clarify requirements and resolve design issues. Present system designs, equipment selections, and design alternatives to clients, addressing concerns and persuading business decisions.
  • Documentation: Prepare technical documents including MEP drawings, equipment schedules, RFQ/RFP templates, and sub‑contract work packages. Maintain up‑to‑date project files and integrate HVAC and mechanical systems with electrical, control, civil, and architectural teams.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, manufacturing, process, or industrial engineering.
  • Experience: Minimum of 4 years in mechanical design engineering with independent project handling.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in mechanical design software such as AutoCAD or Revit; knowledge of HVAC and mechanical codes (ASME, ASHRAE, ISO‑14644, SMAGNA); experience with project bidding, BOQ development, material sourcing, and quotation compilation.
  • Soft Skills: Strong problem‑solving and analytical abilities; excellent communication and teamwork; self‑motivated with minimal supervision.
  • Additional Skills (Optional): Electrical LV wiring design (cable sizing, SLD for LCP), general control and instrumentation logic for mechanical systems, mobility for on‑site tasks.
