Job summary

Flex is seeking a Materials Planning Manager located in Prai, Penang, to develop, direct and coordinate material planning activities. This role aims to balance supply and demand to enhance customer service levels.

The ideal candidate will have 8+ years in materials sourcing or supply chain design/management, with manufacturing and OEM development experience. A strong cost accounting understanding is valued. Comprehensive benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• Manufacturing background is advantageous.
• Understanding of cost accounting, electronic component markets, price trends and technologies.

Responsible for developing, directing and coordinating material planning activities. Enhance customer service levels possible by balancing supply and demand.

What a typical day looks like:

• Directs the team in the use of best practices in the daily execution of finished goods and WIP planning.
• Manages, coaches and mentors a team.
• Works with the team on continuous development and performance management.
• Directs activities of Planners to ensure that inventory level and turn goals are achieved, including reduction of back orders and enhancing customer service.
• Meets with Senior Management to obtain strategic information that could impact the forecast.
• Works with team to modify the forecast for historical and environmental events.
• Works closely with different departments to accurately develop and maintain an accurate forecast.
• Hold cross-functional meetings to review the Supply and Demand plan.
• Review issues and make recommendations that deal with long-term constraints, customer service levels, inventory targets, the current forecast, and backlog.

The experience we’re looking to add to our team

• Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of materials sourcing, commodity management or supply chain design/management or other related area.
• Prior experience in manufacturing would be an added advantage.
• Must have an understanding of cost accounting, electronic component markets, price trends and technologies.
• A background in electronics manufacturing and a thorough understanding of Original Equipment Manufacturing (OEM) product development process.
