Marketing & Business Development Executive
Merlion Insurance Brokers Ltd. is a licensed Labuan-based reinsurance and insurance intermediary operating across Southeast Asia. We specialise in placing complex risks in property, marine, construction, and specialty classes. As a growing regional brand, we are investing in our marketing, communications, and business development efforts to scale our presence in Malaysia and beyond.

Role Summary
You will support the Directors in expanding our brand visibility, client pipeline, and distribution networks. This role blends content creation, lead research, event coordination, and digital marketing into one dynamic portfolio. You’ll play a key role in creating marketing content, executing campaigns, identifying and engaging prospects, and driving visibility through thought leadership and networking initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and schedule professional posts (primarily on LinkedIn) that reflect our capabilities, case studies, market updates, and team culture.
- Work with design tools (e.g. Canva) to create quote cards, infographics, and visual assets.
- Track engagement metrics and propose ways to improve performance and relevance.
- Maintain a consistent, professional brand voice across all materials.
- Research new leads: cedants, partner agencies, and potential collaborators in Malaysia and the wider region.
- Maintain a clean database of prospects, segmented by product line, geography, and priority.
- Reach out to prospects via LinkedIn or email to arrange meetings during the Director’s market visits.
- Support proposal preparation and follow-ups after outreach campaigns or visits.
- Keep the company website updated with the latest offerings, case studies, and team information.
- Draft and upload blog posts and insights related to reinsurance trends, client successes, or event recaps.
- Coordinate with external web vendors when needed to implement design or functionality changes.
Event Coordination & Marketing Campaigns
- Organise and support industry events, including:
- LIIA marketing and member events
- Cedant networking sessions in KL or other key cities
- Reinsurance knowledge sessions or mini-seminars for agencies or partners
- Prepare event materials, track RSVPs, and assist with logistics and follow-up communication.
- Identify potential sponsorship, speaking, or branding opportunities for the company.
Business Development & Sales Enablement
- Maintain and improve our sales decks, pitch templates, brochures, and case study PDFs.
- Prepare briefing documents for client visits and industry conferences.
- Support in developing presentations and short proposal emails tailored to specific clients or markets.
General Marketing Support
- Liaise with external vendors (graphic designers, copywriters, printers, CRM providers).
- Assist in producing quarterly newsletters or investor updates.
- Maintain internal trackers for campaigns, leads, and event calendars.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- 1–3 years of experience in marketing, communications, or business development
- Excellent command of written English (Mandarin/Malay is a plus)
- Familiar with LinkedIn, Google Workspace, basic design tools (e.g. Canva), and CRM systems
- Comfortable with writing blog posts, captions and light B2B marketing content
- Passionate about building a brand and making tangible business impact
- Able to multitask, take initiative and follow through independently
Bonus if you have:
- Prior exposure to insurance, fintech, or professional services
- Experience coordinating events or marketing campaigns
- Confidence to communicate directly with vendors, clients, or partners when needed
