What role you will play in the team
  • You will be an integral part of our engineering team providing quality technical insights and support to ExxonMobil’s manufacturing facilities globally, encompassing refineries and chemical plants.
  • Depending on your experience level, you will be designated as either a Manufacturing Process Engineer (MPE) with a progression path to Advanced Manufacturing Process Engineer (AMPE), or straight to an AMPE role.
  • Position is based in Kuala Lumpur, supporting global operations from a strategic regional hub.
What you will do
  • Advanced Manufacturing Process Engineer
    • Provide longer‑term process engineering technical deliverables with a focus on fleet‑wide and platform‑specific initiatives that drive operational excellence.
    • Collaborate with Senior Manufacturing Process Engineers to drive implementation of continuous improvement elements e.g. technology‑focused training, tools training, and innovative technical solutions.
    • Provide formal and informal technical guidance mentorship to Process Engineers on manufacturing deliverables, in some cases directly involved in site optimisation, projects, and troubleshooting initiatives.
    • Engage with global stakeholders and subject‑matter experts across regions, gaining exposure to diverse operating environments and best practices.
    • Apply your industry experience to influence best practices, drive technical excellence and contribute to the growth of future talent within the organisation.
  • Manufacturing Process Engineer
    • Act as an integral member of the site technical team, delivering high‑frequency and long‑term process unit monitoring and analysis for ExxonMobil’s global manufacturing facilities.
    • Utilise advanced analytical tools (e.g. data analytics, process simulation) to uncover technical insights, troubleshoot issues, recommend improvements, and drive optimisation opportunities.
    • Lead or support initiatives focused on energy efficiency, yield improvement, cost reduction and sustainability.
    • Perform high‑level business stewardship activities, including energy utilisation analysis, material balance assessments, benchmarking and identification of unit improvement opportunities.
    • Collaborate cross‑functionally with operations, maintenance and business teams to implement sustainable process improvements.
    • Gain exposure to a diverse portfolio across ExxonMobil’s global assets and technology network by working alongside experienced professionals to support projects and solve complex engineering challenges.
About you
Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor / Master's degree in Chemical Engineering with an excellent academic track record.
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant energy industry experience in refining or chemical process technologies (e.g. Crude Processing, Fluid Catalytic Cracking, Heavy Oil Conversion, Hydroprocessing/Reforming, Alky, Amine Treating, Sulfur Recovery, Utilities System, Olefins, Aromatics, Butyl, Polypropylene).
  • Those with adjacent manufacturing industry experience are also encouraged to apply.
  • Be able to demonstrate intellectual rigor, drive and proactiveness in leading change.
  • Ability to work in a multi‑cultural global setting with strong written and verbal communication skills.
