Job description
The Role

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will be the crucial link between research and development and high-quality mass production. You will take ownership of the entire manufacturing process for our cutting-edge products, from New Product Introduction (NPI) to end-of-life. More than just supporting the factory, you will lead, troubleshoot, and optimize our contract manufacturing partners to ensure we deliver world-class products on time, every time.

This is a hands-on role for a natural problem-solver who thrives on the factory floor and enjoys making a tangible impact.

What You’ll Do
NPI Leadership and Execution
  • Lead the development and implementation of robust manufacturing assembly and test processes for New Product Introductions (NPI).
  • Design and optimize factory layouts, fixtures, and tooling to support scalable production.
  • Own the production ramp-up for NPI projects, ensuring a smooth transition from prototype to high-volume manufacturing.
Process Excellence & Optimization
  • Develop and continuously improve standard work instructions, ensuring clarity, repeatability, and quality across all product lines.
  • Champion yield improvement initiatives: systematically analyze production data to drive First Pass Yield (FPY) and Rolled Throughput Yield (RTY) to meet and exceed targets.
  • Identify and eliminate production bottlenecks, driving cycle time reduction projects to improve factory efficiency and output.
Technical Problem Solving & Supplier Management
  • Serve as the lead technical authority for troubleshooting complex product failures on the line when factory engineers require escalation support.
  • Manage and implement Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), Bill of Material (BOM) updates, and firmware/test changes with precision and clear communication to the factory.
  • Partner with the quality team and suppliers to diagnose and resolve component quality issues at the root cause.
Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Act as the primary manufacturing interface with our Contract Manufacturers (CMs), driving them to meet operational goals for quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Collaborate closely with Design Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to ensure Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Testability (DFT), and Assembly (DFA) principles are incorporated early in the product lifecycle.
Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or a related engineering field.
  • 5–7+ years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing engineering role, preferably within the electronics or consumer products industry.
  • Proven experience leading NPI projects and ramping production lines at a contract manufacturer.
  • Strong analytical and data-driven problem-solving skills (e.g., root cause analysis, statistical process control).
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with technical teams, suppliers, and regional stakeholders.
Strongly Preferred (Key to Success in This Role)
  • Deep PCBA Expertise: In-depth knowledge of SMT processes and a demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex PCBA failures down to the component level.
  • Mechanical Acumen: Proficiency in interpreting mechanical drawings with solid understanding of GD&T to resolve part-fit and assembly issues.
Advantageous
  • Proficiency in spoken Malay to facilitate clear communication on the factory floor.
