Job summary

FWD Takaful Berhad in Malaysia seeks an experienced Tax Lead to manage local statutory and regulatory tax reporting for the group and its subsidiaries. You will liaise with stakeholders, coordinate annual tax computations, and support audits while ensuring accuracy in ledgers and IFRS17 integration.

Ideal candidates have 10+ years of tax experience in financial services, strong communication, and leadership abilities, with proficiency in MS Office and a proactive, governance-focused mindset.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance/Accounting with professional qualification.
• At least 10 years' experience in tax or related fields, preferably in insurance/takaful.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Reviewer for local statutory and regulatory tax reporting monthly, quarterly and yearly.
• Handle queries from stakeholders related to indirect tax and company tax.
• Coordinate yearly tax computations for Hold Co and subsidiaries.
• Support annual audits with internal and external auditors.
• Ensure GL reconciliation supports tax balances and IFRS17 accounting.
• Lead tax reporting governance and SOP documentation.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Key reviewer for local statutory, regulatory tax reporting on monthly, quarterly and yearly basis.
• Handle any queries from stakeholders related to indirect tax and company tax.
• Facilitator for yearly tax computation for Hold Co and its subsidiary companies.
• Key liaison to support the annual audit by both internal and external auditors
• Ensure Sub-Ledger (SL) General Ledger (GL) reconciliation relate to both tax and indirect taxes are performed to substantiate the balances in financial book.
• Supervise and support the local month end closing to ensure accuracy of the financial data.
• Continuous improvement to monitor the tax reporting in both local and IFRS17 ledger.
• Manage and coordinate queries requested by internal or external stakeholders if there are tax related issues.
• Involve in UAT and any tax initiative rolls out by Group Tax.
• As key person to ensure the tax reporting, reconciliation processes and procedures are documented and maintained in SOPs with control and proper governance.
• As a tax lead for the E-invoicing, SST expansion, Global minimum tax reporting, governance tax framework to ensure the company is comply to all the regulatory requirements predefined by local RMCD and IRB.
• To participate in any assigned task by the direct superior.

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE

Bachelor of degree or equivalent, in Finance/ accounting, with CITM qualification. At least 10 years working experience in related field preferably with insurance/takaful or any tax advisory / big four consultant firm.
