A local conglomerate in Penang is looking for a Manager / Senior Manager to oversee employee relations and compliance. This role involves ensuring that labor laws are adhered to while integrating ESG and DEI commitments into HR practices. The successful candidate will lead initiatives involving union engagement, collective bargaining, and dispute resolution, and must have over 10 years of HR experience focusing on industrial relations and compliance, preferably within Asian regions. A strong understanding of ESG frameworks is essential.
You’ll lead industrial and employee relations section under the Group’s HR function for a local conglomerate, ensure adherence to relevant labour laws and related regulations, and participate in driving the Group’s ESG and DEI commitments.
Design and implement framework for industrial and employee relations, including union engagement, collective bargaining, and dispute resolution.
Ensure compliance with international labour standards (ILO conventions, UN Guiding Principles etc) and local employment laws across all operating jurisdictions.
Embed ESG metrics into HR practices—tracking, reporting, and improving on social indicators such as fair wages, worker voice, health & safety, and inclusive culture.
Contribute to DEI strategy with measurable outcomes, focusing on representation and equity in talent processes.
Partner with internal teams to align people practices with Corporate ESG disclosures.
Identify potential ER/IR issues, workforce transitions, and ethical supply chain labour practices.
Degree in HR, Law, Industrial Relations, or related field.
10+ years in HR, with specialization in industrial relations, regional employment law, and compliance.
Experience operating across Asian regions preferred is an added advantage.
Good understanding of ESG frameworks as they relate to human capital and social impact.
Track record in designing and scaling DEI initiatives with accountability mechanisms.
