Job summary

Standard Chartered Bank is seeking a senior professional to lead Central PC Controls for end-to-end FM P&L and valuation control functions within GBS. The role collaborates with Bangalore & Singapore teams to deliver key control objectives and manage strategic initiatives.

You will oversee reconciliation reporting, month-end postings, and risk controls, ensuring adherence to SLAs, KPIs and internal policies while supporting migration and system enhancements.

Qualifications

  • MBA/CA/CFA/ACCA with a minimum of 4-6 years of experience in a financial services industry.
  • Strong understanding of financial market products and controls.
  • Experience with IFRS and balance sheet substantiation is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Review and prepare reconciliation reports, management packs and ad hoc reports.
  • Post month-end journals for accruals, provisions and true ups.
  • Ensure high quality of work and adherence to policies and controls.
  • Support change initiatives and user acceptance testing for system enhancements or migrations.
  • Maintain daily P&L production, core reconciliations and balance sheet substantiation.
  • Regulatory and business conduct with a focus on ethics and risk management.

Job Description

The Central PC Controls team is accountable for delivery of the end-to-end FM P&L (Financial Markets) product & valuation control functions in GBS and manage different strategic initiatives for FM PC. The Head of Central PC Controls works closely with the Line PC across FM, GBS and the PC senior management team in Bangalore & Singapore to deliver the objectives of the function.

Key Responsibilities
Strategy
  • Review/Prepare various reconciliation reports, management packs and adhoc reports.
  • Posting of month end Journals for accrual, provision and true up.
  • Take responsibility for the quality of work submitted and ensure that the highest standards are maintained.
Business
  • Support change project initiatives and conduct User Acceptance Testing for enhancements to current systems or migration to new system.
  • Ensure adherence to SLA's, KPI’s, Internal metrics & FMG wide policies.
  • Identify/ manage risk and control breakdowns.
  • Develop & maintain effective and standard processes.
  • Maintain DOI's.
  • Perform the reconciliations between different data sets for the migration of systems.
  • Perform the testing for all the test cases and highlighted the results in time to the management.
  • Quarterly substantiation of Financial Market balance sheet.
  • IFRS 9 classification of Financial instruments, off balance sheet, and liabilities classification.
Processes
  • Responsible for running controls between system for Terada migration to Hadoop,
  • Testing of the results and sharing with senior management with in the central team.
  • Communicate with the program team on regular intervals on the update of the migration.
Risk Management
  • Ensure appropriate controls and reviews are maintained for Daily P&L production, Core reconciliations, Month end close and Balance sheet substantiation.

  • Effectively and collaboratively identify, elevate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.
Key stakeholders
  • Regular face off with in PC various line teams , Product Control Management, Regional finance team and various internal stakeholders within GFS.
  • Act as a point of reference for team members and internal clients.
  • Manage relationship with internal stakeholders, take regular feedback, anticipate, and understand issues and elevate appropriate for timely resolution
  • Manage strong relationship with support teams (IT, Operations and Risk) and bring synergies by interacting and integrating with cross functional teams
