Job description

We are seeking an experienced Procurement expert to join our team. As a key member of our procurement department, you will play a critical role in managing our organization’s sourcing, purchasing, and category strategies. Your expertise will drive efficiency, cost savings, excellence in operation and supplier excellence.

Responsibilities
  • Strategic Sourcing: Develop and execute sourcing strategies aligned with organizational goals.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and negotiate favourable terms with suppliers.
  • Stay abreast of market trends, supplier capabilities, and industry best practices.
  • Lead negotiation efforts on prices and terms with suppliers, including preparing and executing contracts in accordance with the institution’s and legal requirements.
  • Identify potential risks in the supply chain and develop strategies to mitigate these risks.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities within the category, tracking and reporting on savings targets.
  • Engage with internal stakeholders to understand their needs and ensure their requirements are met.
  • Procurement Operations: Manage end-to-end procurement processes, including requisitions, purchase orders, and delivery tracking.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and accurate procurement.
  • Monitor supplier performance and address any issues promptly.
  • Work closely with project teams to understand procurement requirements.
  • Category Management: Categorize spend areas and create category-specific strategies.
  • Optimize supplier relationships within each category and implement best practices for risk mitigation and supplier diversity.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with existing suppliers, evaluate performance, conduct regular business reviews, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Identify and onboard new suppliers, perform due diligence checks, and ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key suppliers, conducting regular evaluations.
  • Quality Assurance and Compliance: Ensure purchased products meet quality standards and comply with legal and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
  • Work Experience: Minimum 8 years of experience in procurement, focusing on strategic sourcing, purchasing operations, and category management.
  • Proven track record of successful negotiations and cost savings.
  • Experience in the Education industry will be an added advantage.
  • Strong background in procurement operations, strategic sourcing, and category management for indirect spending (e.g., Facilities Management, Marketing, IT, MRO, and CapEx projects).
  • Skills: Excellent communication and negotiation skills; experience with Strategic Sourcing Procurement (SSP) tools; analytical mindset; proficiency in procurement software, Microsoft Excel; familiarity with relevant industry regulations.
  • Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration/ Supply Chain Management, or a related field. CIPS membership preferred.
