We are seeking a versatile and sharp Legal Manager to oversee property disputes, retail/commercial leasing, and cross-border commercial transactions. The successful candidate will manage active dispute files (including tribunals and property claims), support the Head of Litigation, and oversee the legal requirements of diversified private business units.
Disputes & Litigation Management: Manage active property-related dispute files, housing tribunal matters, and statutory complaints. Work closely with the Head of Litigation to formulate dispute strategies, review pleadings, track case milestones, and manage external counsel. This includes personally attending and handling hearings for housing tribunals (e.g., Tribunal for Homebuyer Claims) and managing official complaints with relevant authorities.
Commercial & Retail Leasing: Draft, review, and negotiate a high volume of commercial and retail leasing documentation across various business units, including Principal Tenancy Agreements, Sub-Tenancies, Under-Tenancies, and Addendums.
Legal Advisory & Enforcement: Draft and issue formal legal correspondence, including Letters of Demand, default notices, and termination notices. Provide sound, commercially-grounded legal advice to internal business units.
Corporate Support: Handle miscellaneous corporate and commercial matters for group entities and affiliates.
Experience: Minimum 6 to 8 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) in a reputable law firm (handling litigation/dispute resolution) and/or an in-house corporate legal department (handling property/retail leasing.
Qualifications: Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from a recognized university is mandatory.
Bar Admission: Admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya.
Language Proficiency: Professional fluency in spoken and written English.
Core Skills: Strong drafting, sharp negotiation skills, analytical thinking, and the ability to operate under tight timelines.
