Position Summary

The Manager, Group Flight Data Analysis (GFDA) is accountable for the overall management, administration, security, and maintenance of the Flight Data Analysis (FDA) programme. This role is central to the organization’s accident prevention and flight safety programme, requiring the incumbent to establish and maintain the FDA system effectively. The ideal candidate will be responsible for fulfilling the FDA data and reporting requirements for key internal stakeholders, including Flight Operations, Training, and Safety departments. Additionally, the manager is responsible for interfacing with external entities, such as regulatory authorities, original equipment manufacturers, and other operationally relevant partners.

Key Accountability
  • Accountable for the overall management, administration, security, and maintenance of the Flight Data Analysis (FDA) programme
  • Lead the programme to ensure it runs as agreed by the FDA Committee and adheres to documented processes
  • Supervise the day‑to‑day operations of all programme elements, including data collection, analysis, security, and report production
  • Address FDA data needs and reporting requirements of Airlines' Flight Operations, Training, and Safety departments (and other stakeholders)
  • Establish and maintain the FDA programme as an integral part of the Airlines' accident prevention and flight safety programme
  • Oversee adherence to all regulatory flight safety requirements, ensuring continuous compliance with the Airlines' Air Operator Certificate (AOC)
  • Take charge of ensuring the FDA programme adopts defined risk management processes as part of the Safety Management System (SMS) programme, ensuring it remains non‑punitive while effectively identifying and checking unsafe trends
  • Validate all FDA data to ensure its accuracy and information is cross‑referenced and presented in a credible integrated context
  • Promote safety by identifying unsafe trends during line operation to correct potential problems before they lead to accidents
  • Lead risk mitigation by analysing unsafe trends and proactively recommending safety actions
  • Analyse and highlight safety‑critical FDA events for key management and executive meetings (e.g., Board Safety Security Committee, Accountable Manager Meeting)
  • Manage coordination with relevant operational areas to ensure FDA findings are subjected to additional validation, assessment, and appropriate follow‑up action.
  • Disseminate de‑identified information to relevant operational managers to maintain awareness of FDA issues and results
  • Manage interface with regulatory authorities, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), and other operationally relevant external entities
Qualifications and Working Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Aviation Management, Aerospace Engineering, Safety Management, Data Science, or a relevant technical field
  • Knowledge of FDA programme policies, procedures, systems, operating environment and risk management are preferred
  • Has attended any initial and recurrent FDA system training
  • Formal training or background experience in data processing, statistics and trend analysis (this may include AirFASE/Acron software system, other recognised flight data analysis training courses and/or root cause analysis training courses).
  • At least 7 years of experience managing/processing/analysing FDA programmes (Pilot and engineers or any aviation technical personnel background are welcomed to apply)
