Job summary

A leading construction firm located in George Town, Malaysia, is seeking an experienced structural engineer to lead design reviews for Common Infrastructure works. The successful candidate will coordinate with design consultants to ensure timely delivery of design documents and manage authority submission processes. A Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering and over 12 years of experience in structural design, specifically with bridges and heavy infrastructure, is required. Familiarity with design codes and structural modeling software is essential.

Qualifications

• Strong design knowledge on bridges and heavy infrastructure works.

Responsibilities

• Assist the HQ design team in managing structural design for Common Infrastructure works.
• Review structural design documents and technical reports.
• Lead and coordinate with design consultants.
• Ensure timely delivery of design drawings and technical reports.
• Lead and manage authority submission and approval processes.
• Coordinate design interface issues between disciplines.
• Participate in value engineering, risk assessments, and constructability reviews.
• Adhere to all QSHE requirements.

Skills

Familiar with design codes such as BS, Eurocode

Experience with structural modeling software such as STAAD.Pro

Hands-on experience in structural analysis and design

Exposure to various materials such as concrete and steel

Job description

Job Summary

Responsible for the structural design review, interfacing with management and design coordination for Common Infrastructure works on Silicon Island. This includes review and optimization of design works, authority liaison and provision of technical support to the project team.

Key Responsibilities

1. Assist the HQ design team in managing structural design for Common Infrastructure works, including internal bridges on Silicon Island.
2. Review structural design documents and technical reports, providing technical support to the project team.
3. Lead and coordinate with design consultants, monitoring their progress and ensuring alignment with the consultant’s scope of work and the Design Quality Plan (DQP).
4. Ensure timely delivery of design drawings, technical reports, and option studies.
5. Lead and manage all authority submission and approval processes in coordination with design consultants.
6. Coordinate design interface issues between disciplines to ensure seamless integration.
7. Participate in value engineering, risk assessments, and constructability reviews to enhance project efficiency.
8. Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time by the management.
9. Adhere to all Quality, Safety, Health, and Environmental (QSHE) requirements relevant to the job scope and workplace.
