Malaysia branch General Manager (3PL for electronics/semiconductor industry)

This role involves establishing and managing a new logistics operation in Penang from the ground up.
You will be responsible for company registration, tax and labor compliance, building a local team across operations, sales, and customer service, and establishing warehousing and distribution capabilities. The position requires developing relationships with electronic manufacturing clients in Penang and surrounding areas, connecting with local industrial parks and industry associations, and leveraging the China headquarters' cross-border transportation capabilities to provide two-way logistics services. You will manage customs clearance, warehousing, and last-mile delivery operations while ensuring compliance with regulations, coordinating closely with the Shenzhen headquarters to optimize China-Malaysia transport links and handle cross-border transportation to Southeast-Asian countries.

Key responsibilities

Subsidiary Build-up

• Oversee local corporate compliance for taxation and labor regulations (company registration and licensing are already finalized).
• Recruit and build local teams for operations, sales and customer-service functions; formulate localized administrative policies.
• Develop local warehousing and last-mile delivery capacity, or onboard and manage reliable local service suppliers.

Market Development

• Acquire electronics-manufacturing clients across Penang and surrounding catchment areas (Kulim, Butterworth).
• Cultivate relationships with local industrial parks, industry associations and chambers of commerce.
• Leverage China-headquartered cross-border logistics capabilities to deliver two-way China-Malaysia logistics services for local clients.

Local Operations Management

• Manage Malaysia-territory workflows for customs clearance, warehousing and final-mile delivery; ensure seamless end-to-end integration with China-origin trunk transportation.
• Full compliance with Malaysian customs, transportation and labor regulatory frameworks.
• Establish local operational-reporting routines for regular performance updates to headquarters.
• Collaborate closely with Shenzhen-headquarters operations teams to optimize China-Malaysia land-plus-sea transportation corridors. (Customs brokerage and trucking services are outsourced; this role is responsible for supplier sourcing, governance and oversight of overseas-leg logistics execution.)
• Coordinate cross-border transportation flows connecting Malaysia to Indonesia, Thailand and other Southeast-Asian markets.
• Resolve cross-border logistics operational exceptions and customer complaints.

About you

More than 10 years of experience in the logistics industry

At least 4 years of team management experience

Proficient in Chinese and English as working languages

Bachelor's degree or above from a regular university

Willing to be stationed in Penang long-term
