Job summary

AMETEK Inc. in Bayan Lepas, Penang, Malaysia seeks a Machinist to produce precision parts by operating CNC/Auto lathe machines while upholding quality and safety standards.

You will assist in setup, load/unload parts, perform adjustments, inspect with calipers and micrometers, conduct preventive maintenance, and support production flow. Fresh graduates are welcome; strong reading of blueprints and GD&T is a plus.

Qualifications

• SPM/High School Diploma or SKM certificates or equivalent.
• Fresh graduates encouraged to apply.
• Experience with rolling and grinding machines is a plus.
• Ability to read blueprints and GD&T.

Responsibilities

• Set up machines and convert work orders for smooth production flow.
• Operate CNC Auto and Manual lathe machines, load/unload parts, meet daily targets.
• Make machine adjustments to maintain accuracy.
• Inspect finished parts for quality per SPC standards.
• Perform daily/monthly preventive maintenance on machines.
• Support other production areas as needed to improve efficiency.
• Maintain clean and safe working area (5S).

Job description

The Machinist is responsible for producing machined parts by operating various machines while maintaining quality and safety standards.

What you will do:

• Assist in machine setup and conversion of work orders to ensure smooth production flow.
• Operate CNC Auto & Manual lathe machines, including handling part loading and unloading, while meeting daily production targets.
• Perform machine adjustments when required to maintain accuracy and consistency.
• Inspect finished parts to ensure quality compliance in line with SPC (Statistical Process Control) standards.
• Conduct daily and monthly preventive maintenance on assigned machines to ensure optimal performance.
• Support other production areas when necessary to achieve overall operational efficiency
• Do 5S on Working area.

What we are looking for:

• SPM, High School Diploma, SKM certificates in a related field, or equivalent qualification.
• Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.
• Experience in operating Rolling and Grinding machines will be an added advantage.
• Able to do inspection using measuring equipment (caliper, micrometer, profile projector, contracer, gauge etc)
• Able to operate manual cutting and fabrication tools such as bench saw, sanding machine, and other related equipment.
• Physically fit and able to handle heavy lifting when required.
• Basic mathematics and computer skills.
• Ability to follow instructions and new assignments given by superiors
• Ability to follow instructions and new assignments given by superiors.
• Demonstrated ability and willingness to use AI tools to improve productivity, decision-making, work quality, and to reduce costs. The successful candidate must be able to identify appropriate AI use cases and critically evaluate AI-generated outputs.
• Strong troubleshooting skills with a proactive approach.
• Willingness to learn and explore new skills.
• Independent, with good communication and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to read blueprints and basic knowledge of GD&T.
