Qualifications

Low Pressure Turbine Design Hardware Owner

At Avio Aero, a GE Aerospace Company, we've been reimagining the power of flight for more than 100 years. We are specialized in the design, production and maintenance of components and systems for both the civil and military aviation.

Avio Aero is reinforcing the focus to excellence in Low Pressure Turbine modules. In this spirit, we are looking for an experienced Lead Design Engineer expected to become Hardware Owner on Low-Pressure Turbine (LPT) components. In this role, you will be on the front lines of Services Engineering – called Production Technologies – dedicated to improving productivity, enhancing the engineering‑supply chain relationship, and using SQDC (Safety/Quality/Delivery/Cost) to improve the health of the supply chain and product to enable the business to fulfill our customers' expectations. You will also work on the development of a new LPT module following a dedicated NPI process (New Product Introduction).

Job Description
  • Build and strengthen technical expertise in aeronautical components.
  • Management of Quality Notifications for LPT components, (i.e., how to manage defective components).
  • Proactively lead and coordinate design activities related to production investigations through dedicated investigation methodology (i.e. TOPS8D).
  • Manage Source Substantiation.
  • Collaborate with cost out leader on cost‑out activities through cross‑functional team.
  • Lead component design activities to achieve the objectives of performance, manufacturability, cost, and life.
  • Proactively support activities with other Company departments (i.e., Supply Chain, Quality, Product Support) and Suppliers to achieve producibility and manufacturability targets.
  • Technical documents issuing (i.e. models, drawings, reports, specifications).
  • Contribute to a development of a new LPT module.
  • Proactively Lead Design Reviews in cooperation with chief engineer office.
  • Support System Engineer on investigations activities to understand root cause and final fixing of field issues.
Qualifications / Requirements
  • Master's degree in Mechanical/Aeronautical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Use of design tools: CAD (i.e. Unigraphics NX) and FEM/CAE (i.e. Ansys, in‑house SW's).
  • Good knowledge of metallic materials both from the structural and manufacturing point of view.
  • Good knowledge of fundamental mechanical design concepts, mechanics of materials, design hand calculation.
  • Knowledge of conventional machining processes.
  • Have strong engineering outlook, hands‑on engineering foundation and eager to learn.
  • Willingness to directly interact with several internal and external customers.
  • Fluent written and spoken English.
  • Work Visa, in accordance with local regulation, is required.
