The Dean of the School of Psychology & Social Science provides strategic and academic leadership to advance the School’s growth, academic excellence, research impact, student experience, and financial sustainability. The role is responsible for strengthening the School’s academic portfolio, faculty capabilities, industry and external partnerships, student enrolment, and overall institutional standing, while ensuring alignment with the University’s strategic objectives, regulatory requirements, and quality standards.
Job Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Provide visionary leadership in shaping and executing the School’s strategic direction, academic priorities, and growth objectives in alignment with the University’s overall strategy.
- Academic Excellence: Lead the development and delivery of high-quality academic programmes, ensuring alignment with industry needs, emerging trends, and academic standards.
- Faculty Leadership: Lead the recruitment, development, performance, retention, and engagement of academic staff, while fostering a culture of collaboration, excellence, research, and innovation.
- Student Experience & Growth: Oversee student recruitment, admissions, engagement, and academic experience, with accountability for achieving student enrolment targets and fostering an inclusive learning environment.
- Curriculum & Programme Development: Drive curriculum innovation and continuous enhancement of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes to remain relevant and competitive.
- Research & Scholarship: Promote research excellence, scholarly activities, publications, innovation, and interdisciplinary collaboration within the School and with external partners.
- Accreditation & Quality Assurance: Ensure compliance with MQA, MOHE, University, and other relevant accreditation and quality standards, while leading continuous improvement of academic outcomes.
- Financial & Resource Management: Develop and manage the School’s budget and resources effectively, with accountability for P&L, financial sustainability, operational efficiency, and responsible resource allocation.
- Industry & External Partnerships: Establish and strengthen relationships with industry, professional bodies, academic institutions, and alumni to enhance research collaboration, student opportunities, internships, and employability.
- Outreach & School Positioning: Represent and promote the School within the University and externally, strengthening its profile, reputation, programmes, and stakeholder engagement.
- Governance & Compliance: Ensure effective academic governance and compliance with institutional policies, regulatory requirements, and relevant higher education standards.
- University Leadership: Contribute to University-wide strategic planning, decision-making, and cross-functional initiatives, working collaboratively with senior management and other academic units.
- Teaching & Academic Engagement: Contribute to teaching and academic activities across undergraduate, postgraduate, and professional development programmes, as appropriate.
- Other Responsibilities: Undertake other duties and strategic initiatives as directed by Management.
Job Requirement
- PhD in Psychology, Social Sciences, or a related discipline.
- Significant academic and administrative leadership experience, preferably within a university or higher education environment.
- Proven track record in teaching, research, scholarship, publications, and academic programme development.
- Strong strategic, financial, and business acumen, with experience in managing budgets, driving student growth, and ensuring sustainable operations.
- Demonstrated visionary leadership to advance the School’s academic and strategic goals, with the ability to inspire and motivate faculty and staff to achieve excellence.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders, including faculty, students, senior management, industry partners, and external stakeholders.
- Ability to navigate evolving higher education and business environments, lead organisational change, and adapt strategies in response to emerging opportunities and challenges.
