A leading engineering consultancy firm in Malaysia seeks a Legal Counsel to oversee all legal matters and provide contractual advice. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Law, with a minimum of 5 years in corporate or commercial law. Strong skills in contract management, litigation, and communication are essential. Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in corporate or commercial law.
• Knowledge of ICSA or Governance is preferred.
• Experience as an Advocate & solicitor is an added advantage.
• Familiar with Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Commissioning services.

Legal Counsel

Responsibilities

• Oversee all legal and contractual matters within the Company.
• Provide legal and secretarial advice to the Board of Directors and Senior Management.
• Act as a legal advisor to division/departments and ensure full compliance with statutory/regulatory requirements and relevant acts.
• Manage and monitor all contracts, agreements, transactional documents, and other legally related matters.
• Review and recommend the appointment of external panel solicitors.
• Handle litigation matters, e.g., collecting evidence, liaising with panel solicitors, and preparation of court/cause paper.
• Manage and monitor Board Papers, minutes, resolutions, and other secretarial matters.
• Liaise closely with the Company Secretary.
• Undertake all duties, tasks, and responsibilities as required by management.
• Assist in the resolution of disputes or claims involving contract matters, such as contract-related matters or non-compliance with standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Law or equivalent.
• Preferably with knowledge of ICSA or Governance.
• Minimum 5 years of working experience, with a background in corporate or commercial law.
• Being admitted and having experience as an Advocate & solicitor is an added advantage.
• Excellent knowledge and experience of corporate law, contract law, and litigation.
• Demonstrate proficiency in contract drafting, negotiating, and reviewing.
• Good command of FIDIC & contract management.
• Fluent in Bahasa Malaysia and English, oral & written.
• Possess strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Familiar with Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Commissioning services.
