Job summary

A leading energy company in Malaysia seeks an experienced legal professional to manage foreign-related contracts and disputes. The ideal candidate should have over 10 years of legal experience, be proficient in Malaysian laws, and have strong communication skills in Bahasa Melayu, English, and Mandarin. Responsibilities include contract preparation, dispute handling, and liaison with local legal counsel. Salary is negotiable based on capabilities.

Qualifications

  • Over 10 years of experience in local litigation and arbitration cases.
  • Understanding of compliance and risk management system basics.
  • Passing the Malay Law Examination (MYCLP) is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and evaluate foreign-related contracts.
  • Participate in negotiation of major contracts.
  • Handle foreign-related disputes for the company.
  • Manage legal risk and elevate significant cases to HQ.
  • Support company's labor legal affairs.
  • Communicate with local lawyers.

Skills

Familiar with Malaysian laws and regulations
Local litigation and arbitration experience
Understanding of compliance and risk management
Proficient in Bahasa Melayu
Proficient in English

Job description
Responsibilities

Responsible for the preparation/evaluation of the company's foreign-related contracts, and participate in the negotiation of major contracts.

Participate in the handling of company's foreign-related disputes and disputes, and safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of the company.

Control the case risk, elevate major contracts and litigation cases (limited to contracts as well as cases that have a significant impact on the company's assets, liabilities, rights and interests and operating results) to the International Legal Department at headquarters;

Participate in the construction and improvement of the company's legal risk control system;

Responsible for the company's labor legal affairs support;

Responsible for communication and liaison with local lawyers;

Seal management, internal legal training and other matters.

Qualifications
  • Familiar with Malaysian laws and regulations on manufacturing, civil business, construction, intellectual property, labor and employment law, occupational safety and health, social security, etc.
  • More than 10 years of Experience in local litigation and arbitration cases and legal affairs
  • Understanding of compliance and risk management system basics.
  • Bachelor degree or above, majoring in law related disciplines
  • Proficient in Bahasa Melayu, English and Mandarin.(Need report to the high management of HQ in China)
  • Passing the Malay Law Examination (MYCLP) is preferred.
