Job summary

Compass Beam Capital is seeking a highly motivated Legal Executive to join our legal team. You will support legal operations end-to-end, drafting, reviewing, researching, coordinating with external lawyers, and keeping matters on track in a growing investment group.

You will handle contracts, assess legal implications, manage cases, and liaise with management, internal teams, clients and external solicitors to ensure organised, compliant processes.

Qualifications

• Minimum of four years post-qualification experience in legal practice or in-house corporate/commercial law.
• Excellent command of English; working proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia.
• Reliable, independent, but also a team player with strong communication skills.

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Legal Executive to join our legal team and be a critical support to our legal counsel in serving legal success for the company.

The Role

• You'll support CBC's legal operations end-to-end: drafting, reviewing, researching, coordinating with external lawyers, and keeping our matters on track.
• You'll also help build and refine the legal processes of a growing, startup-style investment group.

What You'll Do

• You will support the legal needs of CBC and its related group of companies.
• Your work will span daily operations, contracts, research, coordination and case management.

1) Provide legal recommendations

• Give practical legal advice for operational and commercial matters.
• Assist the General Counsel in assessing and advising on the legal implications of contracts and documents.

2) Handle legal research and documentation

• Draft, review and prepare agreements and other required legal documents.
• Analyse legal information and highlight contractual risks or considerations.

3) Manage cases and ongoing legal matters

• Communicate effectively with management, internal teams, clients and stakeholders.
• Liaise with external solicitors on corporate, transactional, M&A and dispute-related matters.
• Support the General Counsel with updates, file management and ensuring all matters stay organised.

4) Act as a legal liaison across the organisation

• Participate in internal and external meetings where legal input is needed.
• Work closely with key departments - including the CEO's office, HR, finance and operations - to ensure alignment on legal requirements.

Who You Are

• Must possess at least four (4) years post-qualification experience in legal practice or has in-house experience in corporate and commercial law matters.
• Fluent in English and working proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia.
• Must be reliable, keen to learn, able to work independently and also participate as a team player.
• Keen interest in understanding businesses.
• Strong communication skills. Comfortable connecting with colleagues, external lawyers, and business owners.
• Proactive and willing to develop new skills and acquire knowledge not limited to legal matters only.
