Learning Support Assistant (Whole School)

Summary of Responsibilities
  • Provide academic, behavioural, and social‑emotional support to pupils with diverse learning needs in whole‑class, small‑group, and one‑to‑one settings.
  • Implement IEPs, Pupil Passports, and accommodation strategies under the guidance of the Learning Support Teacher/Head of Learning Support and class teacher.
  • Reinforce learning through appropriate scaffolding, visual supports, and differentiated activities, promoting pupil independence and positive engagement.
  • Support an inclusive classroom environment by implementing differentiation and behaviour strategies, assisting with de‑escalation, and encouraging appropriate social interactions.
  • Communicate regularly with class teachers and Learning Support staff regarding pupil progress or concerns, and attend planning or review meetings when required.
  • Collect observations, assist in monitoring progress, and maintain accurate records in line with safeguarding and confidentiality requirements.
  • Engage in professional learning, demonstrate professionalism and teamwork, and follow all school policies and procedures.
  • Interact professionally with parents or guardians when appropriate, sharing information only as directed.
  • Undertake additional tasks assigned by the Learning Support Teacher, class teacher, or Head of Department within the scope of the role.
