Job summary

Commerz Global Service Solutions in Penang, Malaysia, is seeking a Specialist Unix Engineer with strong IBM AIX (Power) and Oracle Solaris (SPARC/x86) expertise. You will join an agile team focused on platform automation, reliability, and mentoring junior engineers.

You’ll design, implement, and operate Unix platforms end‑to‑end, building scalable automation with Ansible and IaC, and developing tooling in Python, Perl and shell.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years in Unix Engineer roles.
• Hands-on experience with AIX and Solaris in production.

Responsibilities

• Own and operate Unix platforms (AIX on Power & Solaris on SPARC/x86) for business-critical apps.
• Design, build and maintain automation using Ansible and IaC/Everything-as-Code.
• Develop automation and tooling with Python, Perl, and shell; use jinja2 templates.
• Manage full automation lifecycle: design, coding, testing, version control, release management.
• Plan, deploy, patch and upgrade AIX/Solaris servers in production.
• Provide 2nd- and 3rd-level support for Unix platforms; health checks and RCA fixes.
• Administer OS storage: SAN, RAID, multipathing; manage ZFS on Solaris.
• Handle identity & access management (LDAP, Kerberos, IAM, PAM) and security topics.
• Design high availability and disaster recovery: IBM PowerHA, Oracle Solaris Cluster.
• Configure AIX: LPARs, VIO, NIM; Solaris: Zones and IPS packaging.
• Collaborate with stakeholders, mentor junior engineers, and support migrations/upgrades.
