Job summary

Fuku is seeking a Lead Engineer based in Malaysia to drive hands-on development in Node.js, Python and modern JavaScript frameworks, while leading a small team and coordinating with external vendors. The role will design, build, and deploy scalable, enterprise-ready cloud solutions, and take ideas from concept to production.

You will work remotely with a strong emphasis on ML/AI initiatives, collaborating with product, design, and data teams, and reporting to the CTO.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Node.js and modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Next, Vue, Angular).
• Strong Python skills, particularly in data engineering.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization/orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Previous startup experience and ability to work remotely and independently.
• Bonus: Experience with machine learning and AI technologies.

Responsibilities

• Lead hands-on engineering using Node.js, Python and JavaScript (70%).
• Provide leadership for a small internal team and manage two external vendors (30%).
• Contribute to requirement gathering, architecture design and scalable cloud solutions.
• Take ideas from concept to production with proper documentation and backlog cleanup.
• Create intuitive, responsive user interfaces and ensure deployment, monitoring, and maintenance on cloud platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• - 70% hands‑on technical engineering using Node.js, Python, and JavaScript (must have a passion for coding).

About the Team & Company Structure

• - Report directly to the CTO and Co-Founder; you will be the most senior engineer in the team.
• - Expected to have 8-12 years of relevant experience.
• - Collaborate closely with product, design, and data teams to deliver impactful solutions.
• - Co‑founder is based in Malaysia; CTO (consultant) is based in Singapore.
