Job summary

bp in Malaysia seeks a Lead Data Architect to design and deliver enterprise data solutions, focusing on ELT of SAP and non-SAP data to enable data products and self-service analytics across SAP BW/4HANA, Databricks, AWS, Azure, and Palantir Foundry.

The role requires extensive SAP data platform experience, data governance, and a vision for end-to-end data architecture across ERP programs, with hybrid office/remote work in Kuala Lumpur.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience SAP BW/4HANA, SAP HANA SQL, ABAP.
• 8+ years of experience in data architecture, with significant exposure to SAP data platforms.
• At least 1 end to end large-scale S/4HANA implementations & migration project
• Strong expertise in SAP ECC, S/4HANA, BW/4HANA & CDS Views
• Proven experience integrating SAP and non-SAP data sources into unified platforms.
• Hands-on experience with cloud data platforms (Azure, AWS), lakehouses (Databricks), and modern data tools.
• Hands-on experience with building analytic solutions both SAP (e.g. BW queries, SAC) and non-SAP (e.g. PowerBI)
• Proficiency in data modeling, SQL, and data pipeline design using Spark
• Familiarity with data governance frameworks and metadata management tools such as Alation, Collibra or SAP Datasphere
• BONUS: Hands on data engineering experience with SAP Business Data Cloud
• BONUS: Hands on data engineering experience with Palantir Foundry

Responsibilities

• Part of a cross-disciplinary team, working closely with functional ERP architects, data engineers, platform engineers, data scientists, data managers and process experts.
• Build and implement scalable data architectures that span SAP systems of record (SAP ECC, S/4HANA), SAP data platforms (BW/4HANA, SAC, Datasphere, Business Data Cloud), and non-SAP data platforms (Databricks, MS Fabric, PowerBI, AWS Glue, AWS Redshift)
• Develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models to support business intelligence, analytics, and data product initiatives.
• Design data integration solutions using tools such as SAP Datasphere, SLT, Azure Data Factory, Databricks Lakeflow and AWS native data integration patterns.
• Design operational analytics on SAP S/4HANA Embedded Analytics
• Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to define pain points, working with vendors & surveying markets for potential solutions & authoring data architectures and how the architecture evolves
• Designing proof of concepts to prove out architectures and working closely with delivery teams to execute them
• Ensure data products are integrated into data governance tooling such as Alation, Collibra or SAP Datasphere to ensure quality, governance, and security across all data assets.
• Has an understanding of GDPR or equivalent data privacy legislation and how to design data solutions to remain compliant
