Job summary

A leading chemical company in Malaysia is seeking a Lab Technician for a 1-year contract. The role involves managing sample requests, conducting various tests, and maintaining laboratory equipment. Candidates should hold a Diploma/Certificate in Chemistry with at least 2 years of relevant experience, or SPM with 4 years of work experience. Proficiency in both English and Bahasa Malaysia is required along with strong organizational and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Diploma/Certificate in Chemistry, STPM or equivalent with ≥ 2 years relevant experience.
• SPM with ≥ 4 years' experience is acceptable.
• Must be proficient in English and Bahasa Malaysia.

Responsibilities

• Receive and record all sample requests from sales and customers.

Job description

Lab Technician – Technical Service (1 year contract)

Receive and record all sample request from sale / customers / distributors / other Arkema plants.

Pack the sample as per item and quantity requested into boxes.

Prepare necessary document to send out the sample.

Manage and ensure sufficient sample stock and packaging materials, raise stock replenish request to production.

Collect and arrange replenish sample from production site to the sample store with proper label for each grade of sample.

Carry out resin testing and paint testing work assigned under the guidance of lab officer and application chemist. Generate test reports related to coating applications.

In-charge basic resin testing in physical data development such as compatibility test, drying time testing etc.

Prepare spray panels required for testing or promotion tools.

Carry out QUV test, natural exposure test for all project that required such test.

Maintain good housekeeping of coatings application lab and good upkeep of test equipment. Provide constructive suggestions for continuous improvement on efficiency and safety of own workplace.

Requirements

Diploma/Certificate in Chemistry, STPM or equivalent with ≥ 2 years relevant experience; or SPM with ≥ 4 years' experience.

Proficient in English and Bahasa Malaysia (spoken & written).

Strong organizational and communication skills.
