Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail‑oriented Lab Supervisor/Chemist to support quality assurance and laboratory operations in the production of Palm Methyl Ester (PME). The role involves testing raw materials, monitoring process quality, maintaining lab equipment, and supporting production and R&D teams to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct chemical testing on crude palm oil, in‑process materials, and PME to ensure compliance with specifications and standards.
  • Maintain, calibrate, and operate laboratory instruments and equipment used in PME production.
  • Prepare and standardize chemical solutions; ensure proper labeling and expiry tracking.
  • Document and report test results, quality activities, and process indicators accurately and timely.
  • Collaborate with QA, Production, and Logistics teams to ensure smooth sampling, resampling, and tanker loading operations.
  • Support R&D initiatives related to chemical process development and product improvement.
  • Maintain inventory of chemicals and lab supplies; initiate purchase requests and track deliveries.
  • Investigate quality issues, analyze root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure lab cleanliness, safety compliance, and participate in internal/external audits (e.g., MSPO, ISO).
  • Liaise with internal teams and third‑party labs to ensure consistent quality and operational efficiency.
Requirements
  • Must be a registered chemist with Institut Kimia Malaysia (IKM) or equivalent
  • Bachelor’s or postgraduate degree in Chemistry or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a laboratory or quality role within the palm oil or oleochemical industry.
  • Strong understanding of chemical testing methods relevant to PME production.
  • Knowledge of chemical safety, handling, and disposal practices.
  • Analytical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
  • Proficient in lab documentation and reporting.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced production environment.
