Summary:

Under light supervision, the lab assistant will be responsible for updating product registration into LIMS and supporting daily laboratory operations by accurately sorting samples, handling lab equipment, and ensuring proper calibration and maintenance of instruments. This role is essential for maintaining the quality and precision of laboratory tests, ensuring proper handling and storage of retain samples in compliance with quality and regulatory standards. The lab assistant will support quality control by ensuring the cleanliness of the lab in an aseptic and good condition for conducting sample testing. They will communicate data to the Senior Microbiologist or Lab Executive in a timely manner.

Summary of Major Duties:

  1. Perform sample preparation for ingredients, in-process, flushing, or finished products, including maintaining and updating the LIMS system.
  2. Assist Microbiologists in preparing apparatus, media, reagents, and controls to comply with Hershey GLP and ISO17025 standards.
  3. Assist Microbiologists in daily FG sample sorting, managing consumable inventories, and conducting proper handling and storage of FG retain samples daily.
  4. Assist in maintaining housekeeping, following GLP, and adhering to safety procedures in the lab.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

  1. Minimum Diploma in Food Science, Microbiology, Food Microbiology, Food Technology, Chemical-related studies, or a related field. Fresh graduates or candidates with 1-2 years of relevant professional experience are acceptable.
  2. SPM/STPM with at least 3 years of working experience in a laboratory environment will also be considered favorably.
