The Junior Site Engineer will assist in the supervision, coordination, and execution of construction works on site. The role involves ensuring that the construction is carried out according to design, specifications, schedule, safety, and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Assist in supervising day-to-day construction activities and ensuring works are executed as per drawings, specifications, and quality standards
- Monitor subcontractors’ work and ensure they follow technical and safety requirements
- Check and interpret construction drawings, plans, and specifications
- Conduct site inspections and quality checks (material quality, workmanship, dimensions, etc.)
- Assist with site layout, formworks, reinforcement works, concrete works, finishing works, etc.
- Prepare daily / weekly progress reports, site diaries, photographs, and other site documentation
- Track and monitor work progress against the project schedule; notify the superior of any delays or issues
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environment requirements on site and all relevant building codes
- Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors, site workers, and consultants
- Help in coordinating and attending site meetings and walkthroughs
- Any ad hoc tasks or site duties as required by senior engineers or management
Qualifications & Skills
- Possess a Bachelor’s degree / Diploma in Civil Engineering, or related field
- Fresh graduates or up to 1–2 years of working experience
- Knowledge of construction methodology, Malaysian building standards, and local authority regulations
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
- Competent in AutoCAD, MS Office (Excel, Word), basic surveying tools
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Able to work under supervision but also self-motivated to carry out tasks independently
- Strong attention to detail, analytical mindset, and problem solving
- Familiarity with Malaysian construction standards and regulations
