Job description
Position Summary

The Junior Electrical Engineer assists in managing and executing all electrical works related to data center construction projects. This role supports the project team throughout all stages — from design coordination, planning, installation, testing and commissioning, to project close‑out. He/She will ensure all electrical systems are delivered safely on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with technical specifications and quality standards.

Responsibilities
  • Project Coordination & Technical Support
    • Assist in reviewing electrical drawings, specifications, and shop drawings to ensure compliance with project requirements.
    • Coordinate with the MEP team, consultants, and subcontractors on design changes, installation methods, and technical issues.
    • Support preparation of Requests for Information (RFIs), material submittals, and engineering documentation.
    • Maintain proper records of all correspondence, submissions, and site reports.
  • Site Supervision & Quality Assurance
    • Conduct daily site inspections to monitor electrical installation works for compliance with approved drawings, standards, and safety procedures.
    • Identify non‑conformance issues, report them to the Electrical Engineer, and follow up on corrective actions.
    • Verify site readiness for electrical installation, testing, and commissioning.
    • Ensure contractors adhere to project safety, schedule, and quality requirements.
    • Support the Electrical Engineer and commissioning team in planning and executing the testing and commissioning (T&C) process for electrical systems (e.g., switchgear, UPS, generators, LV/MV panels, lighting, and ELV systems).
    • Participate in factory acceptance tests (FAT), site acceptance tests (SAT), and integrated system testing (IST) where required.
    • Assist in recording test results, updating punch lists, and preparing close‑out documentation.
  • Documentation & Reporting
    • Prepare daily site reports, inspection records, and work progress updates.
    • Maintain accurate as‑built markups and assist in compiling final documentation for project handover.
    • Track material deliveries and ensure they comply with approved specifications and quality standards.
  • Health, Safety, and Compliance
    • Ensure all electrical works are executed in accordance with the company’s and client’s safety policies.
    • Report any unsafe acts, conditions, or incidents immediately to the site safety officer and Electrical Engineer.
    • Promote a culture of safety and compliance among site personnel and subcontractors.
  • Collaboration & Professional Development
    • Work closely with the Electrical Engineer, Construction Manager, and MEP Manager to meet project milestones.
    • Attend coordination meetings, toolbox briefings, and training sessions as required.
    • Develop technical knowledge in electrical design, installation, and data center operations through on‑the‑job learning and mentoring.
Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent from a recognized institution.

2–3 years of relevant experience in electrical installation, construction, or supervision, preferably within data center, industrial, or commercial projects.

Basic understanding of electrical systems such as Medium and Low Voltage power distribution, Generators and UPS systems, Lighting and ELV systems, Earthing and lightning protection.

Familiar with relevant standards and codes including Malaysian Standards (MS), Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST) regulations, IEEE, and NFPA.

Proficient in MS Office and AutoCAD; familiarity with Revit/BIM is an advantage.

Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.

Able to interpret electrical drawings and technical specifications.

Team‑oriented, proactive, and eager to learn.

Willing to work on‑site and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
