Job summary
A leading retail company in Kuala Lumpur is looking for an individual to manage day-to-day transactional activities and ensure month-end closing is conducted smoothly. The ideal candidate should have a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance and be proficient in accounting principles, financial reporting, and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. The role involves supporting audits and maintaining a strong financial control environment.
Qualifications
- Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting / Finance or relevant qualifications (ACCA / CPA / CIMA / MIA / ICAEW).
- Preferably with relevant accounting experience.
- Good understanding of financial statements and reports.

Job Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day transactional activities
- Ensure smooth month end closing activities – working to a tight deadline:
- Posting journals
- Reviewing trial balance and month end reports
- Ensure timely preparation of balance sheet reconciliation and quality of supporting schedules, based on high, medium or low risk accounts.
- Ensure timely preparation of internal financial reporting, US GAAP, Local GAAP reports such as annual audit package.
- Support internal and external audit matters by ensuring timely submission of required financial supporting documents and information to auditors - Focal point for internal and external audit matters by ensuring timely submission of required financial supporting documents and information to auditors.
- Cleaning up of aged items and work with interdepartmental (O2C & P2P & Market) counterparts when issues arise on GL accounts
- Investigate and resolve issues found in the normal course of work and provide timely root cause analysis
- Maintain a strong financial control environment and ensure timely escalation and remediation of any control deficiencies identified.
- Ensure service level agreement (SLA) and monthly performance and productivity KPIs are met
- Ensure desktop procedures is updated timely with changes in process (if any)
- Providing support to other team members
- Support in team/company projects or initiatives
- Involvement in ad-hoc RTR or company activities
- Providing support to other markets within the R2R function
Job Requirement:
- Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting / Finance or relevant Professional Qualification (ACCA / CPA / CIMA / MIA / ICAEW)
- Preferably with some relevant experience in accounting function
- Good understanding of accounting principles, standards, financial statements and reports
- Able to work effectively as a member in multi-functional teams
- Computer literate with basic knowledge in Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Proficiency in English with good communication and writing skills
